My step-son just got his dads old 8100 and im trying to put the 4.5.0.81 software on it. I know about the deleting the vendor.xml file and all, but why will the DM not even recognize that it is installed on the PC??!! I found the "Step by step" instructions here on the stacks, but what in the h*ll am i doing wrong??!!!?!?!?!

Reboot your PC and try again. If that doesn't work then try searching your PC and show all hidden files to make sure there is no other vendor file.If it still doesn't do it try going into c/program files/common file/research in motion/app loader and run the loader file from there

Make sure any other OS versions are removed as well as any other BB's

Well, i guess all of it did- only i didnt have to restart my PC.... ok, what really happened is i deleted the .xml file in the wrong OS software.... (sosorry!!)
