Opera Browser vS. BB Browser

Hi,

I recently installed opera browser on my Sprint Curve and don't see how it could be more of use than BB original browser...

Am I missing something? Why do some ppl use Opera (just for looks)?

Thanks

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~
The recent os upgrades to 4.5 and beyond incorporated enhancements to the.BB browser which affected features and performance formerly attained only by using Opera.
Opera is still able to enable function on web pages that in some instances can't be attained by using the Blackberry browser.

"Why do some ppl use Opera (just for looks)?" I use Opera mini only to edit a post I messed up on or if I need to make alterations to certain profiles I can't on the regular bb browser. However, once i'm done using it I delete every cookie possible; clear history because it is a huge memory hog. So, if you're into your themes and have about 10 of those on your bb and a lot of applications don't be mad when your messages and phone call log get deleted. Other than that, it's a nice browser though I only use it for those reasons stated above nothing else. Once i'm done editing whatever I need to do I go back to my regular bb browser.

At this point and time, mini opera is a better option for me when surfing on my berry...mini opera renders the web more like a desktop web browser.

Smile I second that...

Also with the BB browser, you can set the more user freindly start page with igoogle. Igoogle has more options for a start screen set up also.

Interesting indeed... Question... When you say "profile" alteration are you speakin bout, oh let's say for example myspace? I myself haven't recently gotten involved wit my page, mind you I have the BB app also but I rather enjoy viewing it via the desktop version... Would you say viewing it through opera is better???

Here's why from my point of view:

- Render page better, faster, both normal and mobile mode, especially in mobile mode

- Caches page so I can travel back and forth up like 10pages without slowdown

- "Save page" feature is like super bookmark it don't need to load at all, you can save them for time when you got no data connection, and perfect for page like Google so you don't need to reload them again

- Enable unlimited size file DL at lightning speed (lightning enough for a mobile device)

- Easier navagation. Scrollball/Keypad is direction. Page up/down feature... Etc

- "Search field" feature allow you to add custom search field to quickly search for something at a site (they provided google as example)

- Feed feature, although not as good as Viigo but still very doable

I'm sure there's a few more but I'm kinda busy now lol

I like Opera because I can practically go to any web page there is. With blackberry browser that isn't the case. However, I am using 4.3 on a Curve, so I don't know what advancements the browser with more recent OS versions have. I also like that the Opera web pages look the same as they do on my desktop. The only thing I like about the blackberry browser is that you can enter information into input fields without bringing up that all white screen that you have to type into using Opera. Aside from that I prefer Opera Mini.

i am on the internet most of the time in my case, simply cause i have nothing else better to do ^_^

i have found that the bb browser is very limited ... especially with java pages
for example, i am in college and i have to check my classes and such on the .edu page of my college. my problem with the blackberry browser starts here.

First: the page rendering takes a while, compared to Opera's. many times i find myself waiting a while just for the bb browser to request the page ...

Second: the website is a javasite, everytime i try to access it, i come up with a blank screen or the browser crashes and (rarely) it works .... with opera, you can view pages like that, they just reload the whole page when you click on lets say a drop-down menu, but hey, its better than a "maybe it will this time" ...

Third: when i put the bb browser on Page View, it ... kinda looks ... retarded i must say. i understand that the bbs arent perfect, but sometimes things are off in the page view ... wih opera, i say, it is a very good replica of a computer view.

but i do with that opera eventually can make their browser a default browser. and also what would be extremely cool is if they can make a way to use the Wand like in the Opera Browser ... that would be so cool!!!

The "1" key shortcut doesn't work from start page on my bold, thats why I didn't bring it up, on the other hand, app key does...the shortcut key works once you navigate the browser to a website, atleast thats the way it works on my bold, i can't remeber if it was like that on my curve...none the less, it's simple to pull up to change to mobile view.
