Hi there,

I have been using my Blackberry with BES, but now my company took it down. I want to use the Desktop Redirector, but the Redirector Software on my computer is still trying to use the BES we HAD installed.

I have reinstalled the redirector software twice already and wiped the handheld, and I still cannot tell the redirector to forward my emails and not to look for the BES.

How can I change that?

Hi Sergio and Welcome to Pinstack.

Redirector is made to work with BES. If your company BES is no longer active you will need to contact your carrier and add a Blackberry Data Plan to your account, then you will be using BIS and will not need the redirector set up on your desktop.

My situation is that my company BES is down, but I still need to get my emails from the Microsoft Exchange Server.

I used to do that with the Desktop Redirector, but then the company installed the trial version of the BES. It looks like the handheld gets registered somehow on the Blackberry servers, and now it doesn't work with the redirector anymore.

Correct me, please, if I'm wrong, but I think that with a regular data plan I'll be able to do POP3 and so, but I need to get my emails wireless, and at the same time I need to be able to connect the phone to my computer and synchronize contacts, tasks, and calendar.

Please help.

Sergio,

BIS supports POP and IMAP and from my experience BIS does work fine with a MES account. You need to change your account with your carrier from BES to BIS (usually cheaper), and then add your company email account using the BIS set up page. You should then receive your emails on your device (they will not reconcile read and deleted however to your desktop) and you will need to use your PC and desktop manager to sync your calendar and contacts (via USB or bluetooth) as I believe you are already aware.
