Re: Blip for BlackBerry - Geo-social interaction
BBCool reviewed this back in beta, and it's pretty cool. Works with Google Maps, and tracks your position over designated intervals as small as every 5 minutes.
As for dongles, I don't think Blip works with 'em just yet. When the beta was running the 8800 was the only supported model.

Re: Blip for BlackBerry - Geo-social interaction
Hey that was some of the negative publicity Google Earth had to deal with when it first hit the market. Esp most people's homes could be viewed by anyone who uses Google Earth without and opt-in or opt out options. Every now and then they add exclusions.
At least with these apps you don't HAVE to be included. To each his own.

Re: Blip for BlackBerry - Geo-social interaction
Hi from Blackline GPS, makers of Blip.
Just to clarify a few points for you.
-We use BlackBerry maps, not google maps on your phone. We chose BlackBerry Maps as it uses less data.
-Supported devices include all with internal GPS, the 8800 Series, Curve (8130), and newer Pearl (8130, 8110)
-Intervals are 15min, 30min, 1 hour, 2 hour and publish on demand.
-On devices without internal GPS, and where you are running 4.2.1 or better, external GPS should work if you can select it in your Advanced->GPS settings, although we haven't tested it.
And if you have one of our standalone GPS Snitch devices it is fully integrated so you can track them as well.
I just noticed this message too, If you get uncaught exceptions, you are not running 4.2.1 or better.

Re: Blip for BlackBerry - Geo-social interaction
I keep getting an error that I can't open the page. error 403 forbidden.
I then downloaded the JAD file from the site to my PC and moved it to my media card. Opened it and gives me the error that Download failed. 907 Invalid COD File not found error.
Carrier is Telus. BIS and unlimited data! So that shouldn't be an issue. I've resent service books and pulled the battery again. deleted the browser history and cookies, etc.
I've tested on another Telus BlackBerry and got program to install and do everything perfectly.
Suggestions?

That's true, at&t blocks gps usage with blackberry maps, that's why I loaded a different OS other than at&t

Damn it!!!!!!!!!!!
Found it... Compared the settings... Somehow mine was on Wap Browser as default.
In the BlackBerry browser Under Options-General Properties-Default Browser = WAP browser. Thus it wouldn't work,
Gah! At least I figured it out!

That 400 bucks is for the GPS Snitch self contained system. You hide it in your car. if it gets stolen you activate the GPS and call the cops.

Re: Blip for BlackBerry - Geo-social interaction
The Blip application is completely free. The expiry dates you see refer to the credits for tracking our GPS Snitch product.
As for the memory card, we have only done OTA installs into main storage.
And Moridar is correct, the $399.99 price you see is for our GPS Snitch tracking product, that you can see and control as well from the Blip application.

Re: Blip for BlackBerry - Geo-social interaction
FREE aint FREE if you have to pay after 90 days!
Logged in to website, to pull my locations into Google Earth, an only had 89 days left, signed up yesterday.
Is the website access going to continue after 90 days? And be free also?
Guess well have to wait 89 more days and find out.
EDIT:
Sorry for such a hard time, App is very nicely done and works very good. Just here lately free has turned out to be Free Trial, after you install......

Re: Blip for BlackBerry - Geo-social interaction
Blip is completely FREE.
The tracking credits and expiry information relates to our standalone GPS Snitch Tracking product as it is a track on demand device.
The BlackBerry application itself does NOT use the tracking credits and when they expire it will not matter.
The website and the ability to Share both the Blip and GPS Snitch devices will certainly be available and still work.

Re: Blip for BlackBerry - Geo-social interaction
Usage notes: Really hard on the battery and eating memory like mad. I'm guessing that this will be fixed in future releases.

Re: Blip for BlackBerry - Geo-social interaction
But u can't use the blip without the snitch??? and depending on what model bb u have it's totally useless, if u have friends and they r using the blip, then u can track each other using the app!! but in order for the blip to work efficiently u need the right blackberry and having the snitch would not hurt either I guess!! I have the 8320 with TMO and it does not work for me!!

Re: Blip for BlackBerry - Geo-social interaction
There is definitely a problem with memory on this application. 2 days if it running and I'm out of memory in my BlackBerry. I've never seen this one happen before.
Is there something I can do besides pull the battery?
