Best GPS - Mapquest Navigator
Hey all... I have been playing with several GPS programs over the past couple of days. Amaze, Infospace FindIt, and Mapquest Navigator. BY FAR the mapquest program is the best. It provides turn by turn voice guided instructions and the on screen display mirrors that of most in car GPS systems. Interface is very easy to use. Just a personal opinion, but it is worth checking out. http://www.mapquest.com/features/mai...bile_navigator

Re: Best GPS - Mapquest Navigator
In order to get the program, select SPRINT as your carrier and the 8703e as your model. They will send you a text for install, and it works flawlessly.

Re: Best GPS - Mapquest Navigator
Living - no cost, totally free. Cherri - I have used TelNav, and I prefer Mapquest. I like the interface, as it is almost identical to the GPS you see in vehicles. Not to mention all of the options are the same. Give it a try, I think you will be impressed.

Re: Best GPS - Mapquest Navigator
Thanks for the info on Mapquest. I downloaded the program and it is great. Do anyone know if this program will expire.after so many days. The program indicates this is for Sprint, I am with T-mobile.

Re: Best GPS - Mapquest Navigator
~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ it expired after 4 months of use. Maybe longer than 4 months. Just uninstall and reinstall and I was back to normal.

Re: Best GPS - Mapquest Navigator
Used this for the first time this morning, though I installed it months ago. Why haven't I been using this instead of BB Maps? Much better performance, and the call-out for directions is reminiscent of the old TomTom I had on my Treo. This just moved up in my apps list...

Probably the best FREE gps navigator, but IMHO Telenav is better because it has interface to live traffic and works on the Pearl. I could never get Mapquest Navigator to close properly on the Pearl.

Re: Best GPS - Mapquest Navigator
Does Mapquest Navigator require a data plan? While using, does it download data to the phone? And one last question. Is there any way to get the app on the phone if you don't have the internet on your phone. I've got the 7100i through Nextel, but don't have a data plan.

Re: Best GPS - Mapquest Navigator
~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ you would need a data plan to use as the maps aren't stored on your phone. Maps would need to be downloaded.

Re: Best GPS - Mapquest Navigator
Here is my Review...
I love it!!!
:D
Last night on my way home from the office i used it, and it gave great directions.
Night Mode looks great day or night.
I live in the middle of Nowhere, and when i didn't turn where it told me to, it re-routed me instantly using the lesser traveled country roads i usually take.
I will be installing this on my wifes Blackberry tonight!!
Great Application!!

I downloaded it and it looks fantastic. But I have the same question. IS there any cost involved? It does not mention any.

Re: Best GPS - Mapquest Navigator
I downloaded this app tonight and tried it on my way home. Flawless was my experience. From what I see, there is no fees involved, but you will need a data plan being that it is assisted GPS.

Re: Best GPS - Mapquest Navigator
The only thing missing from the app is to be able to navigate to and address in your address book.

Re: Best GPS - Mapquest Navigator
Does it have a setting to keep screen from going into standby mode? Have a problem with Google maps going into standby after a few minutes.

Re: Best GPS - Mapquest Navigator
MN does not go into standby mode when it is activly in GPS. That is one of the best features. Couple that with the fact that it has a great day/night mode. No cost involved at all. ak602 - I agree, that would be a great feature to put in the next interface.
