Y! 2.0 Workaround for ATT Subscribers

Alright I wanted this app so bad I finally was able to get the service books courtesy of my good friend flash24. So here are the steps in getting it to work.

1.Make sure you download the application from the mobile.blackberry.com website directly from your Blackberry Browser.

2. Download the service book file from here. http://www.box.net/shared/aetu7mfqip

3. Launch your Desktop Manager, connect your BB.

4. made a backup of my original blackberry files
5. open "backup/restore"
6. clicked on advance
7. it shows two boxes, the box on the left was empty...box on right had all the files that were on my phone.
8. the service books i downloaded on step 3 were on my desktop so i dragged and dropped it to the right box on advance "backup/restore"
9. grabbed my phone went to settings>options>advanced options>service books
10. once in service books, i deleted all the extra service books which were email accounts that were not mine
11. after i finished deleting the new service books that were not mine (the email account service books) opened a browser and surfed to my BIS with ATT (used computer to go to the site not my blackberry browser)
12. click on the link called service books
13. then click on "send service books"
14. you will know it worked because you will get emails saying you have added new email accounts to your phone.
15. open YIM 2.0 login
16. if you get to this step you are happy because you are using YIM

(BIS login page to resend your service books)

Thanks towaxmerchant for the making detailed instructions. make sure to give him props for that

Re: Y! 2.0 Workaround for ATT Subscribers

Help! - I tried this. I have BES and BIS on my 8700C. I got to the part where I drag the Service Book to the right screen. Once I did that nothing happened. My Service books are greyed out, and it will not update them. Help!

Re: Y! 2.0 Workaround for ATT Subscribers

Hi Harry, I actually got this to work. I had to delete my service book, DESKTOP SYNC. I was then able to add yours and get it working. Now I need to get the DESKTOP SYNC back. How can I do that?

Re: Y! 2.0 Workaround for ATT Subscribers

Thanks Harry. I am concerned as when I was on BIS before I switched to BES that my Desktop manager was set up for BIS. When I switched over to BES, i never changed anything on the desktop manager to indicate it is now a BES setup. How do I do that, or do I need to?

Re: Y! 2.0 Workaround for ATT Subscribers

Hi. I was using YM 1.0 on AT&T successfully, so I decided to upgrade. First, I downloaded the new software from the BB site. It must have worked, because my Applications lists it as version 2.0. I signed on, and nothing looked different from YM 1.0. It didn't even give me an error.
So I went through the process of adding the service book listed here and subtracting out the unused email accounts. Still, YM looks exactly the same to me, and I can't find any new features, such as the ability to send a file. I have to assume that I'm still running the old application. How can I tell if the application really upgraded?
Thanks.

Thanks for the tip! I was close to pulling my hair out trying to make this work, but it went like a charm once I deleted the DESTOP SYNC file. Yahoo Messenger is a go now on my 8700c! SWEET!!!!!
