We've just announced a new version of the Live Search application for BlackBerry devices. This one's been re-designed from the ground up with a completely new UI, simple network detection, GPS integration and a lot more!

Download it by pointing your BlackBerry browser to:

Excellent! I like the ease of use of the maps, especially the traffic map. The top searches is a nice touch and I enjoy having all of this on one screen with easy to see icons that I can glance at while on the road. Add a Weather Channel or similar app and I'll put WLS in front of Berry411.

yeah, pretty cool. thx for sharing. i'd like to see the ability to add my zip code as my search base. (los angeles is hella big!) still, nice for a beta. also, nice to see ms throwing some love our way.

Have used ıt for some tıme ın beta.Takes a lıttle gettıng used too but as always wıth some apps theır ıs always more round the corner..Does UK though spread of searches can be on usa scale ın dıstance.

Searching for locations and directions is kind of tough. The movie search is pretty nice though. This won't replace beyond 411 for me but its a great resource.

More local data and the ability to map contacts are certainly on our to-do list. In the meantime, you can always go to our browser based service at m.live.com to get weather, instant answers etc - all through a simple search box

shmengie, You may choose a ZIP code to do your searches around! Simply hit Menu>Enter New Location or select Near: Enter New Location... and enter the ZIP code

seabirdone, Have you downloaded the latest version? This Beta is totally re-done and was just launched yesterday (unless you were on the alpha program ). We've taken down the previous one and we'll be updating them to the new version soon.

Yes when I go to the wls address, never get to the downlink, and yes, consisently.

Pretty cool. I've played with it for only a short time but definitely look forward to using it more.
So far it looks well done.

Just installed it and it looks very nice so far...as usable as Google maps if not more so (than 1.6.2 or .3 anyway). Like the traffic feature, I can even tell that the 5/14 junction up at Newhall Pass is still screwed up.

I just hope this doesn't mean MS will be taking over RIM in the near future...once in a while MS does something really well, though. Nice work!

Those that were seeing the HTTP 503 error were seeing it due to a www in the URL. Try leaving that out and go only to wls.live.com.

im trying hard tolike windows live this is my second download i used the past version and the new user interface looks great but my biggest concern is the maps they look grainy and when i use the gps feature it wont pinpont where im at i wont delete it yet but this needs to be fixed so far the 2 searches i tried were cool but i have to spent more time with that one
