Just thought I would let you know we've just put out v2.3!

New things in v2.3

• We hit the gym and lost a lot of weight! Down from 240 to 135K!
• Changed around the graphics used on several options and trial related screens
• Can now press the 'Enter' key when a link is highlighted to launch the browser
• Fixed up email scrolling behavior when using shortcuts and then switching to the thumbwheel
• Added in a signal strength indicator on the connection setup screen
• Added in ability to change header font size & bold preference (and pick a smarter default size)
• Added in the "PIN <user>" option to the menu when contact has a PIN number
• Made some optimizations to improve email loading times
• Fixed up email header scrolling behavior (no more "lost cursor")

And finally, as part of our ongoing efforts to move BBSmart Email Viewer more towards a complete email solution (rather than just being a "viewer") we've added in email templating aka SmartSay. If you are not familiar with email templating, the fundamental idea is that you can pre-save responses: email signatures, your phone number, email address, etc. Then when you are composing an email just select "SmartSay..." from the menu, pick whatever it is you want to insert and have it automatically inserted in the email. Great if you find typing certain things (like your business email signature or phone number) a pain!

Also great because this provides the exact same functionality that you find in $10 - $20 BlackBerry apps. and you get it for FREE!

Please note the "Check for Updates" will only work for the people who previously had OS v4.2 version installed. Everyone else you can install via DM, or OTA which you can find at http://www.blackberrysmart.com/otatrial.html

Hmmm...Internet connection dropped out perhaps? The direct link for OTA OS v4.2 is: http://www.blackberrysmart.com/trial.../SmartView.jad

See how that goes. I just did a test then and it worked OK and people on other forums are reporting success so hopefully just a once-off thing.

I just loaded it up. It renders email noticeably faster on my curve. Nice improvement!!!!

Hmmm...download site could be being hit hard at the moment. Everybody probably just woke up in the US to an email notification to let them know that v2.3 has been released and are all grabbing the download now. Everybody else is reporting success grabbing the download - so hopefully just a temporary situation

Couple of things on my BB pearl when you click a email to open there is a lagtime...on email header display there should be a way to select fonts you only have option small medium, and large..I have mine on large and the fonts are still very small!! And when there is a link and I roll over them it does not highlight, I receive notices Deon pinstack on thread I subscribe 2 this is 1 of them when I roll over the link to this particular thread it did not highlight I had to use the regular view option in order to highlight this link and launch it! Just thought you should know! Thanks other than that I like using it! If those bugs can be worked out 25 bucks will be worth it!

Hi Swede,

Try opening up your BlackBerry browser and heading directly to the following site:
http://www.blackberrysmart.com/otatrial.html

Since you presently have v2.2 installed, when you click the "Download" button you will be prompted to "Upgrade". Just select "Yes" - all your settings will be preserved.

Just downloaded the app.. works great on my Curve 8300...

Was using the Empower HTML Viewer earlier..big improvement

Its asking for a registration /activation code ?? Thought the app was free...

The app was never free -- it always offered a time-limited free trial. IMO, well worth the price, especially with the ongoing excellent support from the developer and additional features added with every release.

ok I bought the app, but I have noticed some glitches...ex whenever I am veiwing emails from pinstack and there are links I cant highlight or click on them I have to go to regular view to select the link...that defeats the purpose of having this as a viewer; ex there is a link in the email I received for the xplayer and it's wap.x-berrysoft.com and I can't highlight it or click on it or anything...only when I am in regular view!! Any suggestions? and the email header displays options it would be nice if you could change the font size and names instead from small/medium/large and large is not large at all...otherwise the app has come a long way!!

There is a known bug where a link is not recognized as a link if it is missing the "http://" (e.g., http://www.blackberrysmart.com/ works, but www.blackberrysmart.com does not).

eZainny was referring to the addition of the SmartSay feature to the baseline, not the application itself. There are other standalone apps that offer functionality that is similar to SmartSay.
