Live shots - WiFi & GPS enabled BlackBerrry 8820

The exterior of the 8820 remains identical to the 8800 of course. The major additions... "user friendly" WiFi AND GPS.

the talk i heard was the GPS woud be "watered" down, not disabled.

Re: Live shots - WiFi & GPS enabled BlackBerrry 8820

The reps at AT&T said it should be coming in anytime now. But I wonder if it is worth the upgrade from my 8800? If wifi is the biggest deal, then I will wait until another unit come out.

You'll have to check the web source of that rumor for updates. But in all fairness the above BB isn't with At&t.

Re: Live shots - WiFi & GPS enabled BlackBerrry 8820

What I have heard is T-Mobile said they are getting the Curve 8320 but would not tell the release date. When I told her that I heard it was 9/24, she laughed and said if I knew why ask. She did not know anything about 8820. I am eagerly waiting for the 8820 with T-Mobile. I can care less about the camera, it is usually of poor quality and I have no use for it. I would much prefer the Wi-fi and GPS which the 8820 has and not the 8320. The 8320 will have Wi-fi and a camera but no GPS. From what I can find neither one will have 3G or Edge technology. These technology will likely become obsolete soon to make way for newer technology.

I still don't understand why people running around about wi-fi.Surly it would be nice to have it for things like voice over ip (skype etc.). Firstly, it will eat the battery like crazy. Secondly, honestly is it really that necessary to use blackberry at home when you can use a laptop or stationary pc. And finally, most of the times I am not near hot spots when I use my blackberry. Just like now I am outside the city. Cheers!
