I was looking at the OS for the 8800 and noted this line:
<!-- T-Mobile filesets -->
<fileset Colour="True" series="8800|8300" Java="1.0" _vendorID="100">
Any ideas??

Since its a lower number than the 8800, my guess is that will be the replacement of the pearl.

Re: What is a series 8300???
I don't think they would be putting out a replacement for the pearl anytime soon.
However, they didn't give the 8700 much time as the dominant Qwerty either.

I think the 8700 was released Nov 05. That's 16 months between QWERTY devices. In the world of technology, that is quite awhile. Just my $.02

Re: What is a series 8300???
That time frame sounds about right. A new full QWERTY for TMO is very much needed.

Re: What is a series 8300???
I'm on day 3 with my new 8800 and it's a massive improvent over my 8700c. Especially the keyboard, and the phone, just to point out two of the many improvememts. The noise cancelling system in the phone works very well.

Re: What is a series 8300???
The 8830 according to blackberrycool
"The device will be trackball and will have a few new features some of which have been mentioned. It is quadband but will only be marketed as CDMA in North America and GSM in Europe and other markets. It will also have a micro sd card slot and has a full media player, music and video! It will have a built in spell checker 64 MB on-board data and 16 MB ram. Overall it looks pretty cool, very similar to the 8800. Best features IMO are the next two: stereo bluetooth, and extended battery included when you buy. It has 33% more battery life than the standard in the 8703e so should be pretty good."

Re: What is a series 8300???
Cdma would imply a verizon' or sprint jump. However the info on this device leans more toward GSM, and as far as carriers cingy (att). Now don't get me wrong, I think it will hit verizon & sprint (and any other cdma carrier). But think about how long does it usually take these companies to get the newer bb handsets! No cdma carrier at this point has even has a 8800, or even a pearl @ this point. With that being said don't hold your breath to long for a cdma release of this handset! And as far as GSM, why not GSM? Most bb users are on this network, plus its used globally. Allowing more users @ this point, and opening the market for more consumers, and end users! Well did I forget to say IMO lol

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ LOL I hope I will be able to wait. But now that I got my Pearl back after an OS upgrade gone bad, I think I can wait.

"VendorID-100" is a T-Mobile designation. Cingular's vendorID is 102. That said, I keep hearing that Cingular is going to be the one to release it. WHEN IS TMOBILE GOING TO GET A SERIES 8800/8300 Blackberry?!

The big difference between the 8800 and 8300 is that the 8800 keys have no space between them so you are always catching the adjacent keys. If your main use is e mail , go for the 8300
