Synick have you seen what happened to little girls and women in Sudan or Dufar? Made a lot of people sick but you still didn't see any countries running to help save the millions of people who were murdered, raped and run out of their homes. Do you know what the rebel soldiers like to do to women and children, other than just raping them...its called fistulla and its when they shove a shotgun into the vagina of the woman or child and then either shoot or ram it in so hard their uterus comes out. Hundreds of thousands of women and children have suffered this fate over there and I'd say they also needed our help.

Know what? Its sad. Very sad.
Did we need to protect them? Up for debate.
Horrible things happen all over the world but the US doesn't go running off to save them all, and the on going slaughter of innocent people in the troubled areas of Africa are proof of that.

In my opinion we are in Iraq for oil. There was no other concrete reason that didn't include speculation of WMD's and attempted connections to 9/11 which were proven false. And as far as terrorists, does anyone happen to remember how many of the 9/11 attackers came from Saudi Arabia?? You know, our good alies I mean oil pals. Yes people we are at the mercy of rich peoples desire to stay rich. Any wonder why there isn't more of a push from the government to get away from oil and get green?? Well that's because they all got rich off oil and they want to stay that way.
I'm sure my comments will not sit well with some people, but that's what is so great about having free will...you don't have to follow the leader just because he said so.

The war in Iraq was the biggest blunder by any American president. This country cannot support or properly care for the hundreds of thousands of soldiers returning home from war. But yet we keep sending more over. My great grandchildren will be paying the price for this war. Sad.
Know what? 85% of the people supported this war when it started, and keep believing the media when they tell you there were no wmd. My wifes cousin is about To head in for his 3rd tour as a army ranger. He tracked these wmd and they didn't get them before they crossed into Syria. So say what you want, this war was justified. Remember as sad as your tale of women and children is, there wasn't an attack on OUR soil! The biggest mistake was killing all the Iraqi troops who would have joined our fight, and could have policed their people. But that was a military decision, not a presidential one. We would have been out long ago (mind you I think we should be out now!)
Just don't let people fool you. Now I'm done. I hate talking politics. Because so few are really informed other than the information the media reports.

Sure i was fine with going to afgan. That made sense. Iraq NEVER had WMDs or harbored
terrorists. Both have been proven. However, Iraq is basically a Civil war at the current state and
now has more terrorists than ever before in its history. We have created this state of turmoil
in which there is no light at the end of the tunnel. Al Qaeda is in Iraq (was never there before)
Iran is funding and aiding Al Qaeda and we just let them. The next logical step is to go after Iran
(whether you're left, right or split) However, what happens then? World War the Third time around.
They have nukes. Guess who they're buddy buddy with? Russia (who things aren't too well off for us right now) Venezuela (the quasi-super power of the south) Not sure if China digs Iran but China does dig Russia, and they both don't dig us.

We are public enemy number one on a global scale.
And we have the last few years of foreign policy to thank for that.
    I'm out...I'll be back later
I would be more apt to take some positives out of your statements, if your point about Iraq not harboring terrorists prior to us going there. You say its been proven. I'd love to are that proof from a reputable source. Do you really believe that? I mean come on?
What's sad is I agree with you that we shouldn't be there anymore and libby should be in jail. But you're really drinking koolaid if you truly believe that. They have been one of the top ten terrorist states long before we went their.

Todd I have several friends who have been to Iraq and Afghan as well and I have my own inside word from what's gone on there.
I'm not some "tree hugging Dem" who blindly believes what the media tells me". And I'm also a disabled veteran myself. I'm in the VA healthcare system and when I say that the VA system has been busting at the seams for the decade I've been in it, I'm talking from personal experience. This country is failing to properly take care of its veterans returning from Iraq and Afghan. And the corporate world is no better and makes it equally as difficult for returning soldiers to both have a job and also attend much needed counseling for PTAD at the VA which closes at 4:30PM in most states.

Any idiot knew if Iraq had any kind of wmds they had plenty of time to take them over the border into Syria since Bush laid out a deadline. Which was one of the reasons many people said it was ridiculous to take that approach.

Second there has never been any conclusive evidence that Iraq had anything to do with 9/11 directly and Bush fed off of this countries pain and anger and put Iraq into the picture when they should not have been the focus. Afghan was our target not Iraq. I honestly cannot understand why people continue to place Iraq and 9/11 together. If there were any other country who had a part in 9/11 that we should've gone after its Saudi, who had a hand in it since many of the bombers were from Saudi. But of course we can't burn that bridge...so people continue to cry Iraq and ignore the role Saudi's played in that tragic event.

By the way I know I might come off like I'm angry, but that's not how it is. Just comes off that way when you're using words on a screen instead of face to face. I'm passionate about this subject because of the men and women who are risking their lives for this war and are not being taken care of either over there and especially back here in America.

Re: Who thinks scooter libby should be in jail?

I'm really glad we have some great points here from both sides.
I would bet my car Libby gets a full pardon.

Now regarding the War with Iraq...Where do we go from here?
We can give reasons all day long about the original causes of the war, but what do we do now that we are there and things aren't getting any better no matter what the current administration does?

We are in a quagmire in my opinion. If we leave now we're leaving the country in complete unrest. If we stay more men and women in uniform as well as innocent Iraqi civilians will die.

Iraq is surrounded by countries who will continue to support and supply insergants with the weapons and money they need to attack our troops and other Iraqis. So unless we just take on the entire region, we are not going to put a dent in the problem with insergants.

As an American I never want to lose a war, but I honestly don't believe we will change Iraq or ever be able to restore any kind of solid order. I think we need to set a date and bring our people home.

OK, so we have established that this isn't about him at all, but about a backlash against the prez and attempt to jail or remove anyone associated with him that's convenient enough of a target to go after. Basically Libby's only "crime" was that he was a part of the administration, correct? The original charges were dropped, but they still wanted to keep him in court and get him on something just for the sake of getting him.
