I am sure to anger some with this post but here goes...Perjury is a very serious offense but we should have all expected a pardon from Bush but at the same time remember clinton pardoned 140 criminals on his last day. Many worst criminals than Libby

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~for the record I don't believe in pardons but Bsuh could redeem himself by pardoning the 2 Border Patrol agents who were just doing their job and are now in jail because the US gave immunity to a self admittesd drug dealer who was wounded to come to U S and testify. Also sure to anger some

    http://www.usdoj.gov/pardon/clintonp...#january202001
scroll down to the see the list from his final day, including what they did.

    Here's my argument.
These people SERVED time for their crimes.
since libby's sentanced was commuted, he doesn't have to serve. Sure he still has
$250,000 in fines (being in the bushy inner circle i don't see that as a problem)
and his "image" is now tarnished with a felony on his record.

With a pardon...that ALL goes away.
    No fines, no jail.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~the fines are already paid remember 5 mil was raised for his defense. I agree with what your saying which is why I don't agree with pardons you should do your time BUT...Financier fugitive Marc Rich was pardoned by Clinton while on the run and served no time. After pardon he returned to U S. Just a thought

    PDUB: Amen.

Jail, hell yes. Then again MOST politicians deserve to be there (keep in mind i voted for W TWICE so this is WAY unbiased)

BTW, her status as an agent (not a spy, she never dug through secret microfilms) was the worst kept secret in washington. The reporter that wrote the story already knew of her status, Libby was just "dumb" enough to not deny it.

Re: Who thinks scooter libby should be in jail?

    Okay okay.
Libby knew who outed Plame. Outing a CIA Op is really really bad biz for out country. I believe this was all done in retrospect for Plame's hubby's piece debunking causes to start a WAR in which we are still involved (and probably with still be so 10 years down the road.)

The current Administration wanted (wants) OIL, plain and simple. Hmm who could we take over and have an abundant amount for many years. Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock. Lets take IRAQ. So the Bushy crew figures out some ideas to throw one of the largest pieces of wool in the history of man over our eyes, and we go to war on flat out False Pretenses.

So down the road, piece by piece the truth comes out. The White House does what it can to debunk and silence many. Then the Plame outing. So the other half of the country that wants some friggin truth for once, gets Libby on trial and wins a small victory in the right direction. And once again, abuse of power and a "magic" Bush force field saves all involved from any harm or reprocussions.

We have been lied to for too long and this is just more mud in our eye.

Sorry to say but if you think we'll be outta Iraq in 10 years I'll take that bet and while we're at it I got some prime real-estate in Florida for ya CHEAP! Look at Germany/Japan. WWII ended 80 years ago, WE'RE STILL THERE. When the US occupies a space, it's there FOR LIFE.

    Sad but true.
Here's the thing though. We haved caused more problems for ourself then when we began.
Sure i was fine with going to afgan. That made sense. Iraq NEVER had WMDs or harbored
terrorists. Both have been proven. However, Iraq is basically a Civil war at the current state and
now has more terrorists than ever before in its history. We have created this state of turmoil
in which there is no light at the end of the tunnel. Al Qaeda is in Iraq (was never there before)
Iran is funding and aiding Al Qaeda and we just let them. The next logical step is to go after Iran
(whether you're left, right or split) However, what happens then? World War the Third time around.
They have nukes. Guess who they're buddy buddy with? Russia (who things aren't too well off for us right now) Venezuela (the quasi-super power of the south) Not sure if China digs Iran but China does dig Russia, and they both don't dig us.

We are public enemy number one on a global scale.
And we have the last few years of foreign policy to thank for that.

So war crimes is one thing...Who are we to start a war against someone and their way of life no matter how different or horrible it is just because its wrong or we disagree with it. United Nations are for that (who did not back going to war with Iraq in the first place). Yes Saddam was an evil dictator and he did horrible things, so did Kim Jong Il, did we invade North korea? No, we have over the course of a few years now just started to smooth out problems there. By the use of multi national talks, with its ups and down, we are actually moving ahead with progress in shuting down a potential nuclear threat (visibally at least).

On the other hand we have Iran who is forcefully moving ahead with nuclear capabilities rapidly in defiance of the US, the UN, and anyone else in their way. Here we have a country that sponsors terrorism, wants to erradicate an entire nation (israel), and yet most of their country lives in poverty.
    So whats going on here?

I apologize to all for my long rantings and so forth. I have strong views.
I once called myself a tree hugging democrat

Re: Who thinks scooter libby should be in jail?

    ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

Synick have you seen what happened to little girls and women in Sudan or Dufar? Made a lot of people sick but you still didn't see any countries running to help save the millions of people who were murdered, raped and run out of their homes. Do you know what the rebel soldiers like to do to women and children, other than just raping them...its called fistulla and its when they shove a shotgun into the vagina of the woman or child and then either shoot or ram it in so hard their uterus comes out. Hundreds of thousands of women and children have suffered this fate over there and I'd say they also needed our help.

Horrible things happen all over the world but the US doesn't go running off to save them all, and the on going slaughter of innocent people in the troubled areas of Africa are proof of that.

In my opinion we are in Iraq for oil. There was no other concrete reason that didn't include speculation of WMD's and attempted connections to 9/11 which were proven false. And as far as terrorists, does anyone happen to remember how many of the 9/11 attackers came from Saudi Arabia?? You know, our good alies I mean oil pals. Yes people we are at the mercy of rich peoples desire to stay rich. Any wonder why there isn't more of a push from the government to get away from oil and get green?? Well that's because they all got rich off oil and they want to stay that way.
I'm sure my comments will not sit well with some people, but that's what is so great about having free will...you don't have to follow the leader just because he said so.

The war in Iraq was the biggest blunder by any American president. This country cannot support or properly care for the hundreds of thousands of soldiers returning home from war. But yet we keep sending more over. My great grandchildren will be paying the price for this war. Sad.

    My thoughts on the subject:
Of course scooter libby should be jailed for lying to a grand jury (I could've sworn perjury was illegal in this country) and obstruction of justice. Bushy will protect the white house at all costs even if it means trampling the constitution. Bushy will most likely give scooter libby a full pardon before his term is up.

    And I'm spent. Your thoughts...
    1) I'm a republican who has be underwhelmed by this administration.
    2) Scooter should be in jail.
    3) let's not even get into the whole pardon debate. Crooked pecker Clinton pardoned 63 people, including multiple murderers, on his last day in office alone. So its not uncommon.
