PinStack doesn't have a good enough trap set, it takes someone monitoring and banning IP addresses. I keep saying it just doesn't make any sense to ban someone then leave them on the site. I know it's a numbers game but the advertisers aren't stupid either

Ugh. I can't keep up with it. These new spammers are starting groups and posting in the groups. Makes it a little more difficult to keep up with. Have to ban, then delete each user, and they're coming in fast and furious.

That's cuz you need someone laying in the background all the time. It's not like you don't have a life and just hang on the Stack all day and night. Need to set it up so they can't post without being monitored first, then you just decline the post, make a list and delete at your convenience.

Should be able to set so they can't create groups Roger. Besides they are starting on and commenting themselves in the discussion

Roger, I run another forum (also Vbulletin) and we have two third party add-ons for spam; GlowHost spam-o-matic and Spam Stopper Options. Also, I like to ban groups of IP addresses, if I find one coming from a particular area. For example, instead of banning 200.37.53.116, I will ban 200.37.53.11* and a HUGE number of repeat offenders are caught and because of the asterisk they are not allowed to even register. It's not a perfect system, but it does pretty good. You probably already know most of this though.

Well I can do the IP banning, but as for add-ons, that's up to Escalate, who are less than responsive.

I did change one setting where I have to approve new members before they can post, and that seems to have stopped a lot.
