Where you live, right now. What is something your city/town is known for? Is it a capital? Does it house a popular landmark? Special food or restaurant? Any historical events? Anything....

My city is known for being a mile above sea level

    Virginia Co Cavan, Ireland
Famous son Perhaps the most famous Virginia emigrant was Philip H. Sheridan, whose parents came from nearby Killinkere, left Ireland around 1830 and settled in America. Sheridan achieved success through a military career, particularly during the American Civil War. President Lincoln stated, "this Sheridan is a little Irishman, but a big fighter", eventually became commanding General of the US Army and had many honours bestowed upon him

    El Paso, Texas

    1. If you've seen old western movies, the city is pretty much like that with old Spanish missions, Fort Bliss, and the Tigua Indian Reservation.

    2. The oldest street in our city has seen the likes of Billy the Kid, Pancho Villa, Pat Garrett, President William Howard Taft, Porifirio Diaz

    3. Singer Marty Robbins song "El Paso" names a landmark Rosa's Cantina which is still in operation

    4. President Kennedy stayed in the now historical Cortez Hotel and discussed his upcoming Dallas Trip with VP Lyndon Johnson and TX Gov Connally

    5. Johnny Cash was arrested at the airport and spent some time in county jail for possession of illegal drugs (probably brought back from over the border)

    6. Texas Western wins the 1966 NCAA tournament (if you've seen the movie Glory Road, that's the school's story)

    7. We've got a few well knowns like golfer Lee Trevino and Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor

    8. Supposedly, the Margarita drink was created in Tommy's Place Bar in 1945

Like the angel you are you laugh creating a lightness in my chest,
    Your eyes they penetrate me,
    (Your answer's always 'maybe')

Portland is also known for being the home of Nike, Adidas, Wieden & Kennedy, Columbia Sportswear, Phoenix Gold, Freightliner, Widmer, Perrin, and I'm sure a lot more than I can think of at the moment!

My town is known mainly for the Music.

The kazoo was invented in the city during the 1840s. Macon has been the birthplace or hometown to such musicians as The Allman Brothers Band, Randy Crawford, Mark Heard, Lucille Hegamin, Lena Horne, Otis Redding, Little Richard, and Mike Mills and Bill Berry of R.E.M.
