    +1 for the Lambic.

My wife loves these things and got me to try it. I doesn't look like traditional beer but is really tasty.

    Re: The Beer Lounge

For the guys, I highly recommend a good Belgian Ale. Belgian Monks are the true masters of the brewing craft. (Apologies to anyone that thinks its Jim Koch or *shudder* Augustus Busch)

Orval, Duvel, or Chimay are great Ales to start with. For a little more wallop you can try the dubbels and trippels.

After that, there are literally thousands of private, small Abbey labels that don't do wide distribution but can be found at a local specialty beer store.

Hmm, I may have to take my own advice tonight and stop on the way home...

Here's there kicker. to open it, you have to perform a mission impossible task.
Peel the foil from the top (like champagne)
Pop the metal cap (like normal beer)
    Then remove a friggin cork.
Too much work and of course when my girlfriend wants to drink it,
guess who gets to open each one......me
if she likes framboise make her a dirty ho. mix about a 1/3 of a glass of framboise with hoegaarden. good stuff.

i'm partial to anything made by catpain lawrence. local brewery here, most have never heard of it. cricket hill makes an awesome unfiltered as well. i hate main stream big brewery beer.

That's okay, you dig it... I don't. If it aint broke don't try it. Besides, I'm here in Bible Belt, USA (Oklahoma City) the normal beer here is only like 3% alc. I actually have to go to the liquor store to get Heinekens... And then they aren't even cold.

Besides, I'm not much of a drinker anymore. Never heard of smoking and driving killing someone... But hey, I don't make the laws.

I'm just busting on ya. I can't imagine being stuck in 3% land.

I'm with you on the driving part. Stay home and enjoy it.

I hear ya man. I'm in OKC too. 3.2 beer sucks a big fat ..... well, you get the picture. I try to hit up the liquor store on Tues. or Wed. so that by Fri. it's all nice and frosty. I normally go to The Cellar Wine and Spirits at Britton and May, but I found my latest love at Pancho's.

Red East (Krasniy Vostok po ruskiy) is such a suprise. I've had a loy of experience with all sorts of consumables from Russia, and it's normally a crap shoot. But this stuff is sooooooo good. It has a very subtle sweetness, short-lived fizzy head, and is oh so smooth. I highly recommend it. If your local specialty beer store doesn't carry it, see if they can't order some. It's imported by a company called Aiko. There website is www.aikollc.com.

    Re: The Beer Lounge

    I have found Beer nirvana.

A High School friend of mine opened a small specialty wine & beer store about 2 years ago. They have grown continuously since then. They recently moved into a new location that has space for a restaurant and retail store, effectively doubling their space.

I went to their new bar Friday night. 9 beers on Tap, none of them from "The Big 3". Currently you can't even get any of the Big 3 even in a bottle. 2 Belgians and a Hefeweizen on tap, as well as a local microbrewery's seasonal offerings.

Oh yeah, and if you want to smoke, go outside and do it. No smoking in the restaurant. Woo!

    Re: The Beer Lounge

That's pretty awesome LTF. We have a restaurant here in Downtown Toronto called Bier Bistro. Same idea. Hundreds of different brands of beer from various countries to microbreweries. All the food served have some sort of beer in it. the best thing on the menu is the cheese fondue, with beer of course!
