If this wasn't the first time I'd been on the stacks since last night at 8:00, I would have finished that song for ya.

One of my favorite versions of it is the cover the Grateful Dead used to do.

    Re: Texas People

I like Marty Robbins' original a lot. Johnny Cash did a pretty fair cover of it, too. The Dead do a nice rendition of it, I think.

I'm pretty sure its on Europe '72, its been a while since I've looked at their studio albums. They started doing it in the early-mid 70s when they went through their CW phase. They all wore Nudie Suits on stage in concert for a while, played a lot of CW standards. Big River was another one they do a nice cover of.

Thanks, mudshovel. Yeah, shes a piece of work.

    Re: Texas People

You texans should read "Lone Survivor" by Marcus Luttrell, CPO, U.S. Navy SEALs.

He is from Texas, and its a heckuva book. As the book indicates, he is the sole survivor of a 4 man SEAL team that was ambushed in Afghanistan in 2005. A helicopter filled with 15 SEALs sent in to rescue them was shot down in the battle (and had no survivors).

If you're a Texan, it'll make you proud of one of your own. If you're an American, you'll hopefully gain a better appreciation of the sacrifices some of our own make for us.

    Navy SEALs FTW.
