Born and raised here in Seattle (actually about 30 miles north...). Love coffe, love caffine, and I talk pretty fast due to that. If I'm looking for a cafe' enviroment, Starbucks handsdown! But if I'm looking for a coffee on my way to work, there's a small and locally owned chain here called "Espresso Connection" that is about half the price of starbucks for twice the size!

(they even offer a 40oz. Coffee!!!!!)

    Re: Starbucks

If the independent coffee shops here were more consistent, I'd frequent them more often. I like to support small business. I usually brew at home. I have Peet's coffee shipped to me from California. They know how to roast. Best coffee I've ever had.

    The End of the Universe

and if you walk to the end of the block, there sits a Starbucks. And directly across the street -- in the exact same building as that Starbucks -- there is... another Starbucks. There is a Starbucks across the street from a Starbucks! And ladies and gentlemen, THAT is the end of the universe." - Lewis Black

    Re: Starbucks

Peet's coffee is where Starbucks picked up the tricks of the trade. There is one close by, and I prefer it.

Unfortunately, it HAS been influenced by Starbucks.

pound for pound coffee is much better elsewhere! i have an idea, let's hide that truth with whip cream or flavored syrup! strbx is great for convenience and service! they have become the mcdonalds of their trade...that last option!

    Re: Starbucks

i worked at starbucks for 2 months...the coffee is horrible but the fraps are excellent...the doubleshot espressos fresh made taste wayyyy better then the can but the baristas only have one influence for making a decent drink and thats the fact that a secret shopper could come in and if you make the drink right you get an extra $25 all besides that nobody cares if the shots are in the right spot top or bottom or even if the drink is made correctly

My favorite drink is the Chai latte. I ask for it non-fat, extra hot. Yum!

Bad for most everything. Coffee is EHHH atmosphere is stuffy. If i am on the east coast USA i drink Dunkin Donuts coffee on the go. ( Inside atmosphere is like a McDonalds) West coast is Bad Ssa Coffee Company all the way. Absolute phenomenal coffee, Atmosphere is top notch.

    Re: Starbucks

Great to relax at, but it seems like every place with a goal to provide such a nice piece of mind has to charge an arm and a leg for their services. I remember calling it threebucks, then fourbucks, now fivebucks. It's unbelievable, after all, it is just coffee.
