    Hey all.

Just realized the other day that I laugh everytime I see a parent give their kid an expensive phone when they are under 16 years old. Well, I got home the other day and my wife had let our 9 year old daughter play with her old 8100 we had when we were on at&t. The next day my wife brings up the idea of letting our girl have it when she turns 10 this Christmas (her birthday). What surprised me was I didn't even hesitate when I said yes. Now I feel hypocritical when I think of all these other parents I shook my head at them. The only good thing I have to say about it is that I didn't spend $300 on it (it was used when we got it).

My question is am I crazy?

How many others would give their 10 year old a BB?

We are planning on it but I am going to be vigilant in checking her phone everyday along with using the WebGuard (not the best but it is better than nothing) feature T-Mobile provides. I may hide the browser icon from her to start with.

My 10yr old has laid claim to my BB 8100 and loves the games and other goodies but I haven't put the data plan on it.

Interesting to see the security programs but she has no need for data ... yet

I have to agree there is nothing wrong with giving them a used one without a data plan due to previously mentioned problems as well as others that might arise. We are all, after all, addicts ourselves, so why should we expect our kids to not want to see why mommy and daddy are so stingy with their BB. ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~
