Question Large Haldron Collider could destroy us all...(maybe, maybe not)

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is a particle accelerator located at CERN, near Geneva, Switzerland. It lies in a tunnel under France and Switzerland. The LHC is in the final stages of construction and commissioning, with some sections already being cooled down to their final operating temperature of approximately 2K. The first beams are due for injection mid June 2008 with the first collisions planned to take place 2 months later.[1] The LHC will become the world's largest and highest-energy particle accelerator.[2] The LHC is being funded and built in collaboration with over two thousand physicists from thirty-four countries as well as hundreds of universities and laboratories.
When activated, it is theorized that the collider will produce the elusive Higgs boson, the observation of which could confirm the predictions and "missing links" in the Standard Model of physics and could explain how other elementary particles acquire properties such as mass.[3][2] The verification of the existence of the Higgs boson would be a significant step in the search for a Grand Unified Theory, which seeks to unify three of the four known fundamental forces: electromagnetism, the strong nuclear force and the weak nuclear force, leaving out only gravity. The Higgs boson may also help to explain why gravitation is so weak compared to the other three forces. In addition to the Higgs boson, other theorized novel particles that might be produced, and for which searches[4] are planned, include strangelets, micro black holes, magnetic monopoles and supersymmetric particles.[5]

    Yet, then there's this
The builders of the world's biggest particle collider are being sued in federal court over fears that the experiment might create globe-gobbling black holes or never-before-seen strains of matter that would destroy the planet.

What do you think will happen when this thing gets turned on?

I think it goes live in June at some point (gulp, lol)

I wonder if it might spawn dragons?

I don't know about Dragons, but I hear CERN has a staff of Ninjas guarding the area. Don't bother looking for them, you can't see them.

I've been reading about this thing for a bit, it's really pretty cool... and a little scary. Out of all the info I've seen, the lawsuit is the best story to read!

    Now that's a big Dragon!!

Makes me think of the movie "the Mist" that came out last year. Military experiments opened a portal to an alternate dimension where huge beast came into our world.

What the real concern at CERN is concerned about the micro blackholes that CERN is concerning the public with (a reason to be concerned )

I have no idea what I just said there, still waiting for coffee to kick in, lol.

I was not aware of the "stealth" ninjas they have protecting LHC (*cough DoomsDay Device *cough) With that being said, we are all screwed, we have no defenses against Stealth Ninjas. The only viable option would be to seal the LHC in a giant capsule surrounded by bubble wrap. That should protect us from the Stealth Ninja Strike Force with the Dragon Spawning, Black Hole creating LHC.
