...I was very active in high school: class, band practices, Friday night football games, the occassional band competitions, full-time work. Then in college: full-time class schedule, full-time work and I had to take care of my siblings and the house. Now, I'm lucky if I can feel energized after I leave work and relax at home. What the heck I was doing back in the day? I should have been goofing off!
I remember when dating was simple. If you liked them you asked them to go with you and that was that. Then all you did was hangout holding hands and sneak an occasional kiss here and there. Now you got to see if there is a mutual interest there. Then the initial date interview, then a series of other dates to just say "hey, I'm into you". Then its the casual dating and a few months down the road its the "are we gonna take it to the next level?" If this was when we were little kids we would be sick of eachother after two weeks!
When I was in high school gas was 26 cents a gallon. High test was 30 cents. And regular was 90 octane.High test was 102.
My first brand new car (Chevy Vega) cost me 2300 out the door fully loaded.
I remember when pay phone calls were a dime.
There were only 3 channels on tv and we had to have an antenna on the roof.
Our phone had a rotary dial.
Minimum wage was 3.25 an hour.
I could go the the movie matinee for a quarter
Nickels, dimes, and quarters were really made of silver
My first electric guitar was a 62 Fender Stratocaster and it cost 260 dollars. Wish I had kept it. It would now be worth about 22K
I got my first (and so far only) speeding ticket on my first road trip. I wasn't happy at the time for getting pulled over, but the guy was only saving me from a possibly bad incident later on. Wasn't such a bad thing in the long run.
