What price range are you looking in? Those apps all run together can be pretty memory-intensive; I'd recommend at least 2gb of RAM. If it's in your budget, go for 3 or 4.

Hard disk size, are you storing info from those apps? Or is it also going to be pics, movies, and music? If it's just docs and some random other info, 120gb should be fine.
Proof of absence is not absence of proof.

I need help from the Stackers again myself.

My Toshiba Satellite that I got 3 years ago (Thanks to the WONDERFUL advice of the Stackers here) is slow and sluggish and won't even play my PC games that require DirectX9.0c anymore (I keep getting all kinds of errors stating it's not installed even when the dxdiag tool states that it is installed. I've had this problem before but thankfully it always comes up at the end of my PC's life).

I am looking at this laptop:

Dell Studio 15 Notebook Midnight Blue
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium Edition, 64-Bit
    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T6400 (2.0GHz/800Mhz FSB/2MB cache)
15.6” High Definition (720p) LED Display with TrueLife™ and Camera
    4GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 at 800MHz
    320GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM)
    Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD
8X Slot Load Super Multi (DL DVD+/-R Drive + RAM support)
    Adobe® Acrobat® Reader 9, English/French/Spanish

With the additional following accessories and upgrades:

    Dell Wireless 1397 802.11g Half Mini-Card
Dell Wireless 370 Bluetooth Internal (2.1)
85 WHr Lithium Ion Battery (9 cell)
    High Definition Audio 2.2
    Back-lit Keyboard
Microsoft® Office Home and Student 2007 - Word, Excel + PowerPoint

How do I get Microsoft Office Home And Student 2007 converted to the full version from trial version before leaving the store? I have Microsoft Office 2003 right now and I was never able to get a correct functioning key to convert it from trial to fully working.

And which one of the following wireless mice should I get? I'm kinda bad about remembering to replace batteries so I wanted a wireless mouse that does NOT require batteries or that can use rechargeable batteries.

Dell Travel Mouse (with Bluetooth Technology) OR
Logitech V220 Cordless Optical Mouse-Midnight Blue (requires 1 AA alkaline battery)

Or should I get something different? I have had the following:

Targus Mini Mouse (featured a retractable cable)

Logitech Wireless Mouse (batteries died on me from lack of use)

I am mainly getting this for college and to accomodate my growing collection of PC games from The Sims Collection.

Forgot to mention that all of that comes in UNDER $1K USD.

I just checked another forum I posted on about a new laptop and was directed to this powerhouse:

Slightly more expensive but the graphics card is better for what I need it to do.

Got another laptop added to the mix today. Found a tablet PC I really liked from HP. I might get it if it can take all the punishment I dish out and still be portable for me.

Back to the drawing board LOL (Didn't realize choosing a gaming notebook could be this difficult)

Went to Wal-Mart yesterday to continue comparison shopping. Salesperson there told me that since I have such a collection of graphics-intensive PC games (my collection of Sims 1, Sims 2 and pending purchase of Sims 3), I would benefit from a gaming notebook. Went online and saw an Alienware notebook but it can ONLY be shipped to me. Would the Dell in my earlier post work or either of the following 2?

    Need help choosing accessories now.

Looking for the best wireless mouse and a pair of headphones for gaming. Any recommendations? I used to use a Logitech wireless mouse.

Just picked up an HP 6730b notebook today from my aquatic therapy instructor who has a friend who works at HP. Loving it already. Gotta get used to a few new controls for the volume but I can see that this will last me a few years.

I'm seriously thinking of writing a seriously negative review on hp.com. I have had nothing but problems with HP 6730b notebook that I have had for less than a month (HP 6730b). The first issue was that the CD/DVD rom wouldn't recognize that there was anything in it. Sent it back (through a friend who got it for me for an early birthday gift). Got it back last Thursday. Last night, the drive decides it doesn't want to eject anything anymore (thankfully no CD/DVD was in it). I should have followed through with either the Dell or the MacBook I wanted.

Giving HP a second chance. Picked up a ProBook 6545b two days ago and have loaded iTunes, most of my games and music, and my BlackBerry and iPods and it's working great so far. Found out that there was poor workmanship on the other notebook I had. Nobody bothered to make sure the disk drive was properly seated in both instances. So far it has handled most of what I have thrown at it. Now I need a wireless Bluetooth mouse before my Carpal Tunnel Syndrome kills me. Any suggestions?
