This is awesome.. I don't think he automatically means we win the World Series, but its nice to have him back and another (hopefully) reliable starting pitcher..

and if nothing else, it means he's not going back to Boston!

    #22 = #27? I hope so!

For 28 million? What a joke, and he's only gonna play 24 games?! Ha, this is one expensive man!

Hasn't he retired 3 times?! Is this for money or for the love of the game? I hope the Yankees don't suffer because someone needs a big paycheck!

You guys can have him. Didn't do |nothing great while in Houston. IMO, overhyped, and definately overpaid. For love of the game, yeah right, more like for love of money!!!!! I hope Boston massacres him in his debut.~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

waste of money. they got clemens for more than what people think though. the hopes is that he's going to stay on as a pitching coach but he won't do that. he left once, he'll do it again. if the yanks offered me 28mil to pitch a short season and not have to travel you bet your *** i'd take it too. he'd be retarded not to. but he won't do what they want him to, he'll leave again at the end of the season and george will have gotten screwed.

yeah it's a little nuts that they are paying him that much and giving him extra privileges, but they feel that brining him back might spark something in the rest of the team. And if it does thn great!

Never heard about the pitching coach thing.. I'm surprised they would have even given that any thought.. Not that he wouldn't be great at it, but he still has an agrement w/ the Astros to do some things for them after he's finally retired..

Who knows, with Tyler Clippard pitching like he did yesterday we may not need the Rocket

we have a horrible pitching staff, and one decent pictcher isn't going to bring the rest of them up unfortunetly.

along with what psi chick is saying, the Yanks are in trouble. Thier pitching staff is horrible, thier players are old and get hurt to much.

Re: great news for yankees fans!

defensively they're doing ok. hitting has been off so far this season with a few exceptions (jeter and posada most notably). the pitching is what's killing us though. there hasn't been too many problems with injury lately, in the beginning of the season there were a few but they've been good so far. there aren't as many "old" players as people think, and they actually have a few younger players that will be good additions with more experience. the major problem though that they're going to have in the next few years is that the farm system has been depleated. they've traded away a lot of their AAA players for big name contracts, and that's going to end up hurting them.
