One league I am in the commish tried to set it to 4, and everyone told him to change it back to 6. His rationale was "all the other leagues do it like that". While it might be true, it still doesn't make any sense.

    My position:
A WR, QB, and RB should provide your fantasy team with roughly the same point value at the "benchmark" stats for their positions.

i.e. if the points are set to 1 per 10 rushing/receiving; 1 per 30 passing, 6 pts all TDs, then:

RB/WR with 100 yds and 2 TDs is 22 pts

QB with 300 Yds and 2 TDs is 22 pts

At 1 per 50 passing and 4 Pts (the defaults in a lot of leagues), my QB's 300 yd day suddenly became worth 14 points.

Anyone tell me why this is how most leagues set it up?
Latufu (wish i knew your real name),

In my league i value qb touchdowns at 4pts. The rationale behind that is good qbs throw between 20-30 tds a year. Good running backs rush for 15-20 tds a year. To keep the scoring comparable for all positions you have to adjust the scoring for td's, otherwise qbs would score a crap load more pts than any other position.

In the Pinstack league you have Passing Touchdowns (6)

And even though its true that QB's pass for more TD's, alot of leagues also give you 1 point (or half point) per reception which only the WR/RB would get and not the QB so that 'in-balance' should even itself out..

Also, in the 'Stack league is 1 point for every 10 passing yards, but 1 points per 5 reception yards...

If Eli Manning throws a 50 yard TD pass to Plaxico Burress (not only is it a miracle) but whoever has Eli would get 11 points whereas whoever has Plax gets 16 pts.

Yeah, but now you have to hope Eli can hit him on a 50 yard TD at some point this year

How did you guys copy and paste your roster in here without all the graphics and stuff...I don't see a link to a roster without all the extras that show up when you copy and paste it.

True Howie, but plax may only get 100 yds recieving at most and eli could get 250yds passing (at the most lol).

Yep.. In the end it all averages out, or close to it.

Unless you have Grossman. Then you should just quit.

    Heres my lineup:

    QB: Peyton Manning
    WR: Marvin Harrison
    Terrell Owens
    RB: Deuce McAllister
    Ronnie Brown
TE: Marcus Pollard (waiting for him to clear waivers Sep 1)
    K: Adam Vinatieri
    Defense: Baltimore

    BN: Jamal Lewis (RB)
    Santana Moss (WR)
    J.P. Losman (QB)
    Mike Nugent (K)
    Jerramy Stevens (TE)
    Indianapolis (Def)

Im pretty happy with everything but RB and TE.

Yes, however, you start 2 RBs, and 1 QB. If you have 1 "avg" QB and 2 "avg" RBs, you get the same production out of both. NFL doesn't score it as 4 points when Manning throws it, and 6 when Addai runs it in.

Not that I am complaining about anything we're doing in our league. I've just always viewed it differently about the scoring adjustment. I don't think it should be done, because it skews the value too much in favor of the RB. I think it should be balanced all the way around.

If Peyton Manning has a monster year, it should give you every bit as much of a boost as LT's monster year is giving to some other player. IMO
