good luck. let me know how it goes.

    Sitting here now.

Changed my mind, decided to keep LJ and Fitzgerald. Based on my draft pick, and what everyone else kept, I'll be able to get someone of Maroney's caliber (and he may still be available) with my first pick. I am the 7th and 14th picks, only 20 players will be off the board at the start of the draft.

I'm planning to go RB with my first pick, WR with second, QB with 3rd. WR will be my 3rd depending on what QBs and WRs are available at that pick.

    Re: Fantasy Football Rosters

This will be my third FF team out of four that I'm doing this year. Two of my drafts have already passed, one of which I missed so Yahoo! had to do for me, and the other I did myself.

The first team (Auto Drafted) is a 10 player league, and I drafted 10th in a snake draft.

    Muhsin Muhammad
    Eddie Kennison
    Ladell Betts
    Randy McMichael
    Michael Clayton

    Special Teams
    Robbie Gould
    Josh Scobee

    Defense
    Pittsburgh
    Atlanta
    Washington

The second team (Picked by me) is a 12 player league, and I drafted 11th in a snake draft.

    Offense
    Carson Palmer
    T.J. Houshmandzadeh
    Marques Colston
    Laurence Maroney
    Adrian Peterson
    Chris Cooley
    Matt Jones
    Muhsin Muhammad
    Matt Leinart
    Devin Hester

    Re: Fantasy Football Rosters

I try not to have too much of the same team in every league, but this one seemed to conspire against me.

I had the third pick in this draft. First two picks were LT and Peyton Manning. I was stunned, I thought I would be getting some great players in this draft with that type of picking. Ironically QBs get almost nothing in this league. (1 pt per 50 yds passing, 3 pts TDs) yet most of the 1st & 2nd Rd picks were QBs. Go figure. But still, with 12 picks between my first and second choices, the top shelf talent was pretty much gone.

    QBs
    Matt Hasselbeck
    J P Losman

    RBs
    Larry Johnson
    Marshawn Lynch
    Fred Taylor
    Correll Buckhalter

    WRs
    Larry Fitzgerald
    Steve Smith
    Bernard Berrian
    Joey Galloway
    Brandon Marshall
    D. J. Hackett

    DEF
    Chargers
    49ers

    K
    Steven Gostkowski

I dunno how it happened this way, I still wound up with the same players. Eh, we'll see.

    Re: Fantasy Football Rosters

LTF - I think you'll do well in the keeper league - that looks like a stacked roster. Bulger is one of my favorite FF QB's - I lucked into him a few years ago and he had a MONSTER year - I think he's really under rated but I'd put him in the group right behind Manning/Brady/Palmer... I had Hasselback last year..

Can't go wrong w/ LJ either - I think he'll be fine. Between him and Shaun Alexander they are both top 3 picks.. Fitzgerald and Smith are an awesome tandem too!

I'm in 2 leagues - the 'Stacks and a pay league which doesn't do the draft until Sept 4th! (Which stinks). Luckily they did the draft order and I have the #1 pick so I know I'll at least get LT (barring injury). Its a 10 team league so who I'll take with my 2nd/3rd pick is unknown but I should be able to get a decent 2nd RB and starting QB.

My other league this year does individual defensive players, not teams - I've never played in one of those leagues before and apparently the stats for defense are pretty heavy so its not all one sided towards offense. Has anyone played in one of those leagues before? When's a good round to pick someone? Josh - whats the story w/ Hester, is he going to be multi-purpose like last year? Is he a good 'D' pick? (BTW - that punt return for a touchdown against the Giants last year single handedly killed or season...)

    Re: Fantasy Football Rosters

Can anyone give me a rational argument as to why every league wants to value a QB Passing TD at 4 points?

One league I am in the commish tried to set it to 4, and everyone told him to change it back to 6. His rationale was "all the other leagues do it like that". While it might be true, it still doesn't make any sense.

    My position:
A WR, QB, and RB should provide your fantasy team with roughly the same point value at the "benchmark" stats for their positions.

i.e. if the points are set to 1 per 10 rushing/receiving; 1 per 30 passing, 6 pts all TDs, then:

RB/WR with 100 yds and 2 TDs is 22 pts

QB with 300 Yds and 2 TDs is 22 pts

At 1 per 50 passing and 4 Pts (the defaults in a lot of leagues), my QB's 300 yd day suddenly became worth 14 points.

Anyone tell me why this is how most leagues set it up?

    Re: Fantasy Football Rosters

I've only been playing for 3 years, but I've never come across a league that values TD's for anyone at 4 points - it's always been 6.
