    Cloverfield

***WARNING: Minor Spoilers to the movie are in this post. Reading on might make you hate me.***
Saw the preview and heard mixed re-views about it so I decided to see it for myself. I heard people say it lacked story plot, the first person camera POV was annoying, and blah blah blah. That's why they thought it sucked.

I say it was very well put together. First of all J.J. Abrams said the whole movie was filmed "Blair Witch Style," so to go to the movie and hate it for that reason is stupid, you were warned. Second of all story plot's in a scary movie end up destroying whats scary about the movie. All these scary movies with big actors like The Return, One Missed Call, the Boogeyman, etc become less scary when you feel pity for the satanic/ demonic entity/ monster.

Cloverfield (to me) rocked because it had the elements of a classic horror movie where there's this uber ginormous gnarly monster thing attacking a city and no one knew where it came from, what it was, or why it was doing what it was doing. This is the same precept of the OG scary movies. "Birds are attacking, oh no, run!" " Spiders are going after you, get out of there!" Now a days if someone where to make a remake of Hitchcock's "The Birds," by the middle of the movie the group of young adults/teenagers will investigate and discover the birds were a part of this genetic experiment ran by the governement to create the perfect weapon that got loose, while after watching a video tape and receiving a voicemail the birds went crazy and decided to attack Americans for allowing technology to run their lives; one bird pecked our Jessica Alba's eye which she had to get replaced allowing her to see dead people, so now her and Haley Joel Osmond decide to go after the Tooth Fairy and set her free, but are stopped by Michael Myers before they can figure out the puzzle and are murdered in gruesome and horrible manners.

Lack of story made the movie remain scary. The camcorder POV made it real. Personally I enjoyed it, but due to all the mixed reviews I want to hear what the other stackers in the Cafe (who've seen it) have to say.

You don't have to give a reason like I did, just "agreed"... "disagreed"... "sucked"..."rocked"... or "shut up Justyn, haven't seen it, thanks for ruining it for me" would do just fine.

Haven't seen it yet but I want to...I'm a movie-dork, I like to watch movies that everyone says "stink" just so I can see for myself.

I would really like to see that remake of "The Birds" though! Sounds, like, totally awesome! Lol.

You said it all man, I loved the fact that they don't explain anything about the monster.

    Re: Cloverfield

I'm glad someone liked it because I sure didn't. The characters were beyond annoying and they spouted endless dribble. The camera man should've been killed off sooner as he was the most obnoxious of the group. It was a plotless movie and simply put one of the worst movie going experiences I've had in years. The best thing about the movie was the trailer which was put together with the highest level of skill to lure movie goers into theaters. The trailer successfully did its job and after watching it I feel my time could've been better spent taking a nap or having done something inappropriate in the back of the theater. The last time I felt this critical of a movie (and ripped off) was when I went and saw The Scorpion King. The new spoof Spartan movie far outshines this and that says something when a Carmen Electra movie gets higher praise from me.

It's only the end of January but I proclaim this the biggest letdown movie of the year.

    I really enjoyed Cloverfield.

I knew that it was going to be a cross between Blair Witch and Godzilla.

    Re: Cloverfield

I enjoyed the flick as well. A lot of people I know didn't like it, which I will attribute to their lack of imagination and/or them wanting any stimulus being neatly wrapped in a atypical package and fed to them.

The movie was ENTERTAINING- it ENTERTAINED me. As any good movie would.

    SPOILERS** SPOILERS**SPOILERS**SPOILERS** SPOILERS**SPOILERS**SPOILERS** SPOILERS**SPOILERS**SPOILERS** SPOILERS**SPOILERS**SPOILERS**SPOILERS**

Be warned Im talking about details below- so if you got issues...dont read

Has anyone heard about the fact that there were TWO monsters? one with a tail, one without?

Apparently there was a scene where the star couple were in Coney Island on the Ferris wheel and you see 2 objects fall from the sky into the ocean.

There are apparently alot of details hidden in the background of the actual videos. The style in which the film was shot leads to being able to add all these smaller details.

Also at the end of the movie their was some gurgling noise as if someone was still alive and the camera was still recording (DAMN THATS SOME GREAT BATTERY LIFE)

    Feedback?

SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT!

Didn't even think of the 2 monster theory, I was still trying to get a good look at the creature. I thought there was only 1, I wasn't paying too much attention to 2 things crashing to earth. I didn't even realize there was a crash. All I know is that was one freaky monster! And those little creepy crawly things... nuts! The whole lack of story was awesome! You don't know wtf's going on but you just know you gotta get the hell outta there!
