any tips on buying a projector?

I'm getting a TV projector for the true cinema feeling.

Has anyone got any tips of tricks with projectors.

All my mates have bought LCD's and Plasmas and I want something different. And a 100 inch screen would be soooo cool.

Get a projector screen, they are expensive, but are specially made as to reflect the light cleanly. Shooting it again your wall sounds good, but the diference is noticeable. Also invest in some window drapes or whatever you can in order to block out ALL LIGHT!!!

Light won't be an issue as going to using it in the evening and I live in a nice remote spot.

A screen is a good idea. Don't think trying to project it on top a wall works at all.

Be sure you check out the replacement parts pricing before you buy. A lot of projection units are relatively cheap up front, because the bulbs must be replaced every 2-3 years. The cost of a replacement bulb can be almost as much as a new unit.

Actually they have projector wall paint that may make the picture look good depending on the wall surface you have in your place. Look into it or ask about it before you buy the screen. Just beware it does cost up to $300 though.
