    I am with yellowfin...buy used, finance little or nothing and shop for a car that gives you good mileage yet still sustains your sense of style

    The whole "buy used" argument doesn't apply if you plan to own the car at least 5 years or more. If I plan to sell the car within 24 months, yes, the depreciation of a new vs. 1 year old car is relevant.

    If you're planning to own it for several years, there are many advantages to buying new, and the initial depreciation is irrelevant.
