When does a BES move require reactivation?

    Hi..

I'm currently moving users from a version 4.0.4.5 server to a 4.1.2.20 server. I believe that newer devices (or software) can be moved from server to server transparently to the end user, but older versions may require reactivation.

Can anyone shed some light on which platform version or blackberry versions I need to worry about?

    Thanks!

How are you performing the user move?

Are you backing up the database from the 4.0 server, copying it over to the 4.1 server and restoring it that way?

Or are you simply moving users from 1 BES to another manually?

Also, users running handheld software older than version 4.0 will need to reactivcate. I would suggest you make sure everyone is up to date with their handheld software anyways because if not then what has a tendency to happen is when you try activating those older handhelds the policy will not apply correctly.

I'll be at work later for more detail if required.

    Thanks for the quick response..

I'm moving the users manually; the servers share the same BES database.

I believe you've already answered my question.. I assume that when you refer to 'version 4.0' you are referring to the 'blackberry version' that is reported by the 'export asset summary data' task in the console?

Do I need to worry about the 'platform version' in the same report?

    Thanks..
