    Im installing BES on my server machine and keep running into"SQL desktop engine error" half way into it.

    Microsoft SQL server desktop engine installatation has failed, Please check install log for more information.

    Setup will now exit.

    This machhine had BES installed and im assuming it wasnt removed fully. I've googled the message with no luck. I've removed all the BES and SQL components including the registry.

    The eroor is still comming up. Any help with be appretiated

    ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~did you check the running services to make sure sql was not running? I was installing the desktop engine once and that was the culprit.

    What does the install log say?

    Also - any messages in the event log referring to that?

    Kent, this is an issue that can be remedied through a microsoft KB article, or you can always call through RIM client support for this issue. It just came up recently because there is an auto update from microsoft that was a "fix" for the XP OS. Well that didnt help out the BES servers any so I would recommend calling RIM client support.
