    SQL Error

    Advertisement

    We are running the Express version 4.1 with 8 users on Windows 2003 R2 and MSDE SQL 8.0. When we tried to add one more user, the activation did not work, and since then, there are many Sql error in the log file. The error is that the SQL Server is missing or cannot be access for security reasons. The other users seems to be working fine.
    While Googling, I saw that we may have to re-install.
    Does anyone have experience with this?
    When running the Server Configuration, there is an option to used another database. Can I restore the bsemgmt from last week and use without loosing the settings?
    Any suggestions will be appreciate.

    Thanks,
    RD

    The message itself indicates that a client that connects to SQL Server
    has sent data to SQL Server that violates the TDS protocol, the protocol
    that SQL Server and its clients talk to each other. Thus, this indicates
    that you have a buggy client somewhere. Since application code normally
    never generates TDS itself, the culprit is more like to be a library
    component of some sort.

    You might be able to find more information, if you examine the SQL Server
    errorlog. At least you should find a spid. You could set up a Profiler
    trace, catching only login and logut events. Once you have a couple
    of message, you can go to the Profiler traces, and see what clients that
    are involved.

    A question: is this the only problem that you get all these messages in
    the event log? KB article 818897 says that SQL Server can become
    unresponsive because of these errors, and according to the article there
    is a hotfix for it.

    First, thanks for your help!

    There were no SQL errors before the last user was added. This last user Contacts and Calendar works, but not the email. So, there are messages logged showing the following:
    SYNC-Gate] Performing user config change check.
    Start adding user. [User name:15]
    [SYNC-Gate] Send adding user XML to Backup connector. [User name:15]

    Then the following errors:

    Stopping BlackBerry SyncServer
    BIPPeClient::ReceivePacket: No received bytes (0)
    Connection with SERVERNAME lost
    BIPPe_ClientReceiver thread stopped
    EVENT=Unregister_thread, THREADID=0x39F4, THREADNAME="BIPPe_ClientReceiver"
    [BIPP] Connecting to "AMERICA"
    [BIPPeClient::Connect: Found 1 addresses for host "AMERICA"
    BIPPeClient::Connect: Host "AMERICA" @ [10.2.1.99]
    BIPPeClient::Connect: Trying "AMERICA" @ [10.2.1.99]
    ExtUDPNtfThread:eleteSubscription: COM Error 0x80004005 - Unspecified error - Source: "Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server" - Description "[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied." - Command "DELETE FROM ServiceConfig WHERE id = 190 "

    The errors are always for the last user.

    I already have the hotfix installed, should I install SQL 2005?
