Single User will not activate on BES??
We have a single user that his 8830 quit responding last week. He noticed the issue when trying to reply to an email and accept a calendar appointment, would go to a red X.
We have already eliminated it being a device issue as the problem follows if you try any other Blackberry. His profile was deleted numerous times already from the BES before being re-added, and new activation passwords generated each time.
The activation email gets sent to his Inbox but it never pulls it back. He has no new rules setup and he is not opening the messages as they come in. Prior to this, he was working fine on this device for over 2 months.
-BES is on SP1 (upgrading to SP4 soon as SP5 isn't yet approved by corporate).
-BES has also been restarted as of last night
Has anyone else experienced this and know of any fixes? T-Support could only recommend rebooting the server and that has already been completed.
Hi, Welcome to the "Stacks"...
Instead of sending passwords via email, have you tried assigning a password and then activating the device via the BB or by connecting it to the DM?
Have you wiped the device and then tried reactivating him on the BES?
Was there any new software added to the machine that is running the BES or is there an anti-virus software running now that wasn't before?
Activation passwords are not being sent. We're simply removing him from the BES then re-adding him before manually setting the activation password. We have not tried Desktop Manager yet.
But yes, his device as well as the other BB's we've tested this activation on have been wiped prior to setup.
We have almost 200 devices on our BES, and if I remove anyone, their accounts activate just fine if I run them back through.
when is the last time you restarted the BES server?

Also is he on the same exchange server as everyone else? I have heard of issues with a BES server with a exchange server close in proximity works fine but with another exchange half way around the world seems to have lag issues.
Also you could check your log files to see what might be causing this issue. If you install the BES with default location it should be this path on your server
just throwing ideas out there!

You said no new rules; if he has old rules you may want to delete them as well. We had a user with this issue, and we had to delete his mail rules to get him to activate the device
Sounds like the controller and dispatcher services may need to be restarted.
We run several BES in a Groupwise env. and from timew to time we see the same issue, especially with brand new users. Try deleting the mail account and recreating it. Then recreate on the BES. This works for us every time. Thankfully they only have a few pieces of mail that easy to replace once the mail account is recreated. Hope this helps.
