Question about OS change on BES 8800

My neighbor has the 8800 through work and I am assuming its run on the BES system (how can I tell?)....he's running on the .74 OS...and he wanted me to upgrade it for him. Can I do this, or do the IT guys have to? He can upload whatever he wants (dont know if that has anything to do with BES....)....

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~If he"s got service books that start with "Desktop[" he's on a BES. If BES, leave it to the IT people.

Re: Question about OS change on BES 8800

Looks like you found out the answer yourself, but the answer in a lot of cases is "It depends". What it depends on is whether the BES Admin has implemented an IT policy that allows you to load software or not. My organization allows it, others don't. Sounds like in your case, it was allowed.
