Post Problem with BES and Old Outlook Email in Subfolders

We are running MS Exchange with BES 4.0. An employee who has subfolders with critical older messages would like to populate the Blackberry with the older messages that are contained in the subfolders. I tried selecting the subfolders in BES and removing the mail from Exchange into a personal folder on the hard drive, then moving the mail back. But the blackberry did not see this as new mail and although the subfolder shows up in the BB there is no mail within the subfolder.

How do I populate the BB with the older mail within the subfolders contained within the employee's MS Exchange Outlook folder?

    Thanks for your help

    Hello,

Had the exact same problem... The nice people here told me that it does not allow that to happen.

You can sync the folder names but not the messages..... If you can find a way of doing it let me know.

It may sound lame, but I finally had people forward their absolutely-must-have-critical-old-mail to themselves (adding text with the originator's email address they might need it). That got it on the device.

Re: Problem with BES and Old Outlook Email in Subfolders

I typed this out in another thread, but I think it applies (though it begins to explain how to sync the deleted items folder):

You will need to add your 'Deleted Items' folder in Outlook to be included in the wireless sync with your BlackBerry.

Open Desktop Manager (your BB doesn't need to be connected), then open Redirector.

    Select the Advanced tab.

There is a section titled Folder Redirection, in which there are two radio buttons offering the choices 'Inbox and Sent Items only' or 'Selected Folders'.

    Choose Selected Folders.

Then click on the 'Choose Folders' button to the right.

A pop-up window will display the available folders in your Outlook profile.

Only the folders with checks beside them will give your BB authority or permission to delete messages wirelessly.

However, none of this may work for you if the BES has not provisioned you with the options or permissions to make any of these changes.

And, in my case, I don't have the option to add my deleted items folder.

With a BlackBerry on BES and Exchange / Outlook, when you "reconcile now", you are only reconciling the folders chosen in Redirector (or the folders your BES admin permits you to see).

When you delete a message from your BB, it is the same as deleting it in Outlook: it goes to the deleted items folder. And once there, it can only be emptied manually, or when Outlook is closed.

Has anybody figured this out yet? I got a new blackberry a month ago and I am truly suffering without my old emails. I refer to them on a regular basis.
