Keep Messages = xx days
Is it possible to purge pending messages automatically based on their age? (i.e. messages over 30 days old that are pending will automatically purge). Or am I overlooking a very basic option.. (hey, it happens).
I'm on the pearl but it should be the same
go to messages folder hit menu then options scroll down at the bottom is "keep messages" then a day amount. mine is at 30
try it and let me know if it's there!
ok so he's faster. and I have never had that unit. gave it a try and i was right after all.

Been a long while since last login. Sorry all, adjusting to a new life is great and hell at the same time!!
I'm not sure if it's the same with a 7520 but this is how I do it in my 8100
If you go under Messages, Menu, Options, General Options, Scroll down to Keep Messages.
Shortest is 15 days.
Hope this helps. Welcome to the Stacks.
EDIT: I type soooooo slow!
ehh... I should've clarified. I'm talking about on the BES server as a whole vs. individual devices..
I.e. : Joe user is on extended leave and has 10k messages built up on the server that are pending. I know they eventually go away, but wanted to see if I could set an age limit on them so I don't have tens of thousands of messages pending delivery as a whole.
Thanks for the welcome and the responses!
Hi dbrawders, yes there is a way of clearing the pending messages, but they all get cleared, it's non-selective. I use BES on Domino (i.e. not Exchange) so the BES Manager interface might be different, but if you go into the Users view, select the user with the Pending messages, and expand the "Service Control and Customisation" menu you'll have the option to "Purge Pending Messages".
I hope this helps.
yep, knew that I could manually do it. was looking to set a policy on the BES so that they wouldn't just fall off, but I could dictate how long they stayed in a pending state.
