PIN to PIN logging
Hi all, our company wants to start logging PIN to PIN messages so we followed the steps outlined below:
1. Open BlackBerry Manager.
2. Select Servers, and click the Global tab.
3. Click Edit Properties.
4. Click IT Policy, and then IT Policies.
5. Highlight the IT Policy for the user and select Properties.
6. Select PIM Sync Policy Group. The relevant policies are
* Disable PIN Messages Wireless Sync
* Disable SMS Messages Wireless Sync
* Disable Phone Call Log Wireless Sync
7. To enable any of the policies, ensure they are set to False.
restarted the blackberry syncronizaion service.
However after doing some testing the log file is still blank. My quesions are:
How often does this log file get updated? (right away or is there a delay) and
What if anything did we do wrong? as the log file is still empty even after sending test pin to pin messages?
Did you follow each of the steps outlined here: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/searc...00%20188510543
I do not see where you went in to the Audit Root Directory to select where to save the files.
The PIN messages are sent to the BES in 15 minute intervals.
Sorry i forgot to add that to my message, the Audit Root directory was already set so I kept the default. I even went so far as to delete the entry there and re-type it, hit apply then stop and restart the service again. Still the log file is empty and just shows modified date of midnight. Where as the phone and SMS are constantly being updated.
Another question is, what if the user sets the person up my email in blackberry messenger? how can you log those?

You can not log Blackberry Messenger Messages. You can only log Phone call SMS and PIN to PIN

I am getting pin message on my email. how can i take that off.? and my instant message is not working?
You can go to Options, Advanced, Firewall, and block all PIN messages. What do you mean you are getting PIN messages in your email? What steps have you taken with your BBM (Blackberry Messenger) to get it working or what is it not doing?
it states remove on delivery PIN CONFIRMATION.
wHAT ABOUT MY YAHOO INSTANT MESSAGER IS NOT WORKING IS NOT CONNECTING
If you set a user up in blackberry messenger as PIN would that not be considered PIN to PIN>
So, just to clarify...whether someone is set up in BBmessenger by email or PIN, these messages can't be logged or seen on the BES?? - thanks
They can be logged if steps are taken to log them but the BES does not default to logging PIN to PIN messages. To log these PIN messages, the steps that I linked to in post #2 above would need to be implemented.
