PIN issue. Please help!
I am new here. I just bought a Bold in ebay. I am expecting to receive the terminal tomorrow before 1 PM, but I just read about the PIN issue...
I asked the seller if the PIN has been released and he just repplied "I am not sure, you should have asked that before buying"
I have asked him whether he used the device at all or not (the guy is in Ireland and the device comes from Canada, Rogers).
All this sounds very suspicious to me and the guy is not answering my emails anymore.
I do have another BB under BES in my company, the plan was to ask IT to register my new Bold under BES and give my 8820 back, but not sure they will be able to do so if the PIN hasn't been released (I am not planning to use BIS at all).
Will they be able to do so?. Would it be a way to check the PIN status tomorrow (I am not coming back until Nov the 17th to my office, so my IT won't be able to check). I don't want them to think that I stole the device or something...

I'd be more worried about getting the phone then the PIN being released. I believe you can always get RIM to release it afterwords. I would try to get a bill of sale fromt his guy that shows you bought the Bold with that PIN number, so you can atleast use that as proof of owning the phone.
If it came from a guy in Ireland, and it's a Rogers (Canadian) phone, does that not make you wonder. I hope all goes well, but if it is a Rogers phone, I think you should be fine. I've had my bold for almost a month with them, and other then some battery issues, and it running kinda slow from time to time, it's a great phone.
I just got an email from the guy. He explained me that he got the phone from a guy in Canada, he assures me that when he received the phone it was brand new (I keep asking him if it was unboxed or not, no repply yet).
He never activated any email service (neither BIS or BES) as he bought it because of the graphics. He is selling it after 2 weeks becuause he hates the "ball that manages menus".
I have seen the postal service invoice and I am tracking the parcel...
Will anybody in this forum be able to help me tomorrow when I receive the phone (hopefully...) in order to check the PIN status?

Can anybody tell me how to check about the PIN?. I won´t come back to my IT until November the 17th...and I´d like toknow it before in order to try to get my money back.
Do you have the PIN #? Do you know what carrier the device is branded to? If the answer is yes to both then call the carrier and they should be able to tell you.
What do I need to ask them?. Should I tell them that I bought an unlocked phone on Ebay, that the phone is ROgers branded but it´s unlocked, etc?
You can call either Rogers or your Carrier and ask for the BB Support Desk. Give them the PIN and ask if the PIN# for that device is released / available to register. If it is registered on Rogers and that is your carrier you are most likely OK. However if you need to swap carriers it gets more difficult.
