    Outlook "distribution list" - transferrable?

I am a soccer coach for kids and I have an email distribution list created in my Outlook Contacts. This list is not found on my 8320 and is not found when I ask the BB to do a "lookup".

Is this a known limitation? Is there something I can do inside Outlook, the BES Server, or my BB to get this list available on the BB? Sometimes I need to spam the team parents when I am on the road.

    Thanks,
    Dan

p.s. (I am the BES admin, though I am a pretty ignorant one)

p.p.s I would like to read up more on Outlook/exchance contacts in general. I am confused by the various lists (see below), and was shocked to find that a contact I see in my desktop outlook is not on my BB.

There seem to be many address lists on our exchange server:

    Outlook Address Book (empty)
Contacts (my personal list - contains my distro list as well as my other regular contacts)
Global Address List (company list best i can tell)
    All Address Lists (empty)
All Contacts (two names in there)
    All Groups (empty)
    All Users (has names)

You need to verify if you can lookup addresses from GAL or Global Address List. If you can't, then there's a problem. If you're referring to your Personal Address Book, make sure 2 things. 1)those're available under contacts of your mailbox or Personal folders on your desktop(depending on which one of those you've set to synchronise with BB) and 2)set wireless synchronization to ON on your BB Address Book. Let me know if this works.

Outlook distribution lists and the BlackBerry Contacts Groups, although they are similar, do not sync. you will have to create the Groups separately. However there is a workaround that can make it easier. Use Categories to make easier to find each different group. Use Outlook to edit each contact in a distribution list and assigne a specific categorie to all contacts in that list. You can then use the Menu Filter option in you BB address book to show only those contacts.

They do sync if they're part of your outlook contacts. You can then categorize them. Addresses in GAL though are not required to be added to outlook contacts.

Re: Outlook "distribution list" - transferrable?

    Thanks Guys,

Not sure I am clear on this. The distro list is in my "Contacts" and not under the GAL. The distro list is not synching (rest of Contacts seem to be).

I -can- look up names from the GAL on the BB. (Just checked this)

If I understand correctly, I need to create a BlackBerry "Contact Group" on the handheld that corresponds to the outlook distro list. An easy way to do this is by using categorization.

    Thanks,
    Dan

    According to:

    Page 57

The Blackberry can't sync mailing lists either way.
i.e. Create a Dist List in Contacts & it won't go to the Bberry
Create a group on the Bberry Address Book & it won't go to Outlook

I've been trying to find a way of doing this & can't fathom it.

Seems only a Dist List in the GAL (with its own SMTP address) can sync.
