One of my BB devices randomly wipes itself

I have a user on my BES that has a ATT 8700. No problems with the device until this past weekend when the device asked him for a new password. Once he entered the new password his device WIPED itself.

No prompt to enter BLACKBERRY or warning, just a wipe.

So I set him back up on the BES and things were fine for a day and it asked him for a new Password, he enters a new password and again the same results.

I have a IT policy set that 30 other users are on and none of them have any issues.

Could his profile on the BES be corrupt ?

    or

Is the device itself going bad ?

anyone every have this issue ?

I would delete the user from BES and make sure to remove the profile too. Then re add the user. If it still continues to happen, could be be entering the wrong password in 10 times?

I will delete his profile from the BES and readd him again....

The strange thing is that I establish a password when I set the device up....the user had been using that password all day.

it suddenly ask him to enter a new password, once he entered the new password the device WIPES

if he would have entered the password incorrectly 10 times it would have prompted him to enter BLACKBERRY and warned him that if it fails the device would wipe.

but I will start off with the simplest thing and delete him from BES.

    Resolved

This is related to a BB device that is past it's life span....I deleted profile on the BES....same thing happened like 45 mins later to the device.

I called RIM Tech and they said its related to the device and is a known issue but not very common.
