    Microsoft exchange server email push

I may not be using the correct verbiage here, but my company also has an exchange server on the web that we can use to check email anywhere. Can I have those emails pushed to my bb too, without having to use the BES?

Well, I'm not an expert here, but I set up my BIS with my company's Exchange server. Type in your work email address, wait for it to prompt you for more info and follow the prompts. It might take a little trial and error to get it right, but it does work. I guess it depends on what version of BIS you have too. I'm on T-Mo w/ BIS 2.1

With Exchange, the 'webmail' is called Outlook Web Access, OWA for short.

Not all Exchange servers support OWA, and then not all users on the Exchange are permitted to use the OWA.

BIS does indeed work with OWA, as you have discovered.

Did you set up your OWA account on your BIS because your company doesn't have BES, or because they didn't put you on it? Just curious.

They don't want to pay for an additional license. I'm not sure what, if any, our restrictions are on using the exchange server. Luckily I'm in *wink* with the IT guys. They even gave me admin rights to my desktop! Whoohoo!

Yeah, those CALS (licence for a BB device on a BES) get expensive. And if your company isn't gigantic, every additional licence has to be accounted for.

    Thankfully you have OWA!

    Happy BlackBerry-ing!

How do you configure OWA for push?

I don't think OWA pushes. Instead the BIS service polls your OWA every 15 minutes.

If you want something more real-time, then use the outlook rules wizard to set up email redirection, and redirect the email to your BIS (i.e. t-mobile.blackberry.net) address.

Will I still be able to reply from my blackberry email account but with a reply to: work email account? Will Exchange reject the emails sent out from blackberry?

I am not sure of those answers, as I have mine pushed to my BB. There isn't much lag time, sometimes as little as a minute. When it is pushed to your BB and you reply, it automatically sends from your work email, unless otherwise changed (you do have the option to choose what email you are sending it from)

You set it up, just as you would hotmail or yahoo, in your BIS account. I have had ZERO issues, both with a 7100g and now the Pearl.

Re: Microsoft exchange server email push

    Old thread but same topic:

Our company uses OWA and I have BIS. The problem I have is BIS automatically configures BIS to POP3 and I cannot do anything to change it. I know OWA does work because I can syncronize my remote Mac with Entourage.

    thanks!

Re: Microsoft exchange server email push

Thanks for the reply and here's whats happening.

We have several BIS users in our company that have the exact problem.

When we enter our address which is mail.ourcompany.com it automatically checks it and makes a a POP3 account with no option to make it Exchange Server or even IMAP.

The part that has me dumbfounded is that I can easily sync entourage with ES at a remote site with no problem so why can't BIS do the same.

I am also wondering that if we do have to use POP the recieved emails show up as "read" in Outlook; is there a way to fix this?

Re: Microsoft exchange server email push

howitzer, try deleting the account from your BIS, then re-add it with a bad password, This should bring up a second screen that you can select IMAP as a setting and put the correct password.

Let us know if this helps

Re: Microsoft exchange server email push

    Grrrr

When I enter my exchange domain which is http://mail.mycompany.com/exchange

BIS does this Cannot connect to http://mail.mycompany.com/exchange/mycompany

It is adding my company name to the link.
