How to troubleshoot Contacts not synched

How do I troubleshoot when Outlook contacts are not in proper synch? Most of the contacts are in the Blackberry, but not all. There are a number of contacts which exist only in the outlook address book and have not come across the BES to the blackberry. The missing contacts are not found by "lookup".

Seeking any guidance on where to start the troubleshooting process. This a new device, the former device did not have this issue, and I think the issue started when the new device was initialized, not all the contacts came over.

I will double check that address book is set to synch OTA.

fwiw, the Global Address Book is available via "lookup" but the actual user contact list is not.

    Thanks for any help.

Update: So. being an impatient bastard, I turned off wireless synch for address book, and then ran a manual synch via desktop manager. Unfortunately I now have plenty of duplicate records.

Still seeking assistance on cleaning up the mess. Thanks

Anyone? Is the best way to do this to nuke the DB file on the device and start fresh with a manual synch?
