Question Help with installing third party apps via the BES

    Hi guys,

New to the site and new to all things blackberry so be gentle:

I'm trying to install cryptocard software tokens via the BES (4.1.4.12) to our handhelds (8820)

I've followed the Cryptocard documentation, copying the files to Program Files\Common files\Research In Motion\Shared\Applications etc. although when I push the software out to the handheld i get the following message (on the handheld)

'Your administrator has excluded an application on your handheld. You must restart your handheld to complete the removal'

My question is... Is my policy causing this to happen?

I have set the policy setting 'Allow third party apps to use persistent store' to TRUE as instructed by Cryptocard although I'm thinking there may be some other settings I need to take into account when configuring the policy that I'm not aware of.

    Any help appreciated.

    cheers!!

What About 'Allow 3rd Party Application downloads'

'Disallow Third Party Application Downloads' is set to False

What is also strange is that at the bottom of my user properties it has the following settings:

Configuration Name: Crypto Card soft token
    Status Check time: 06/12/2007 16:01:45
    Configuration status: OK
    Application status: OK
    Software upgradeable: False

So, it seems the BES thinks that the software is installed successfully, although there is no sign of it on the handheld at all.

Is it possible to install the this software manually as opposed to a software config from the BES

Re: Help with installing third party apps via the BES

I have now tried to install the crypto card soft token manually via the Blackberry Desktop manager, but there is no 'Application Loader' icon on my Desktop Manager (version 4.2.2.12)

Is this the case with this version of Blackberry Desktop manager or could this be the IT policy applied to my 8820 making the Application Loader unavailable?

    thanks.

    3RD Party BES Questions

    Hey all,
Im a BES newbie with my new BlackBerry Flip, I signed up with CityNet ComPuting about 2 months ago and love there 9.99 BES service and have had no issues at all, im debating upgrading to the higher plan with them and wanna know if anyone else on here is using them or have used them after the company merger. I read some past threads about there service but it seems with the new owners the service rocks. Any input is appreciated!
    thanks.
