Question error message, from BES or cellular network?

    Heyy,

I'm on the BES 4.1 and using 8707 handhelds.

I've noticed that some handhelds tend to get error messages, they appear to come from a number/address '23354'

    The email/message displays the following:

'There has been an error processing this request'

Basically, when a handheld gets this message it doesn't receive any emails... then after a while, sometimes even upto an hour, it begins to receive emails again.

Has anyone ever come across this before? Or has any ideas on this? thanks

hmm havn't heard of this on. Is it BES only no error for BIS emails. Anymore error details you can provide. Cust and paste. I take it "There has been an error processing this request" is a cut and paste of the error?

thanks for replying. yup, you're right - that is a copy and paste of the error message. It comes from the number 23354.

    (Only BES emails.)

Is it an email or an SMS message? Not having any luck with finding anything regarding this?

Sorry I'm unable to confirm whether this was an sms or email, but the senders address/no. was 23354.

can't find anything on this except it can occur on BIS when a carrier's BIS service is undergoing maintenance

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ I've been getting this same error message intermittently for the last 2 or 3 days with the Cingular Browser. Running through a company BES. Not sure what is going on. Haven't noticed a problem with emails though and I almost neve use SMS. It's been a pain in the ***!

TexasKidDoc, and GSR Welcome to the Stacks. If either or both of you still have on of these messages on your Handheld, please open it, then scroll all the way to the top and let us know what the "Received Using ???" says the transport type is.

Hope we can help solve this.

Hi Rcjbr. I can almost certainly confirm these are sms messages sent from the cellular network... but i'm still not sure why they are sent, and what they mean in terms of service availabilty. I'll find a message tomorrow and update you on what the transport type is. Thanks for your time and effort.

Almost looks like an error response(like a delivery failure) from a SMS message, possibly a text message that the user sent to get a ringtone or something like that?

Re: error message, from BES or cellular network?

This is a sms message from the cellular network. It's created when the device attempts registeration or re-registration on the cellular network.

Is this following a Register Now attemp from Options/Advanced Options/Host Routing Table? or does it just occur periodically?
