Encryption Key Failure

I have a user that is now getting the "Encryption Key Failure" message when reading emails. This started about a week ago, and he can still send and receive email, by just bypassing the message.

Question: What does it mean in terms of security if a BB users doesn’t regenerate a key?
In such instances would such emails be sent without encryption?
If so, at what point would encryption keys be regenerated, if ever, without user intervention?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Kevin

Re: Encryption Key Failure

You can regenerage the encryption key on the handheld by going to Options > Security > General Settings, then scroll down to your services, click to get your menu, then choose Regenerate Encryption Key. You can also regenerate it using Desktop Manager

Every once in awhile I have a user that has to do this. It's not very often though, so I don't know what causes it to have to be done.

Re: Encryption Key Failure

Once I regenerate the Encryption Key, does the user have to go the Enterprise Activation again?

Thanks

Nope, you don't have to go through activation. It will simply regenrate the key and stop bugging the user.

I have noticed this happening too on my 8703e ever since I changed to BES service with exchangemymail. Frequency is 1-2 times a week and I usually regenerate encryption if I see msg.
My question is, if I don't regenerate the key what impact on my security does this have?

I found this post very useful and informative as well.
