    Question Cannot Delete Incoming Messages!

    Hey guys,

Have a very strange issue with a couple of users in the company, they have emails over a week old and cannot delete. Also have noticed that the email icons have changed and appear to look like folders. Whenever an email comes through, you are able to read but not delete on the handheld. Have tested and appears to delete from Notes but still shows as read on the device with a funny folder icon..

Any ideas?? Dont really want to blitz it and if its happening to two users it cant be coinsidense!

    Thanks for your help ppl!

Try a battery pull. Sometimes it works. Regards, Claudio

    Re: Cannot Delete Incoming Messages!

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ on my blackberry the folder icon indicates that the email has been filed in exchange (I'm making a guess your on a BES) I'm not to familar with the working of BES perhaps the BESAdmin account dosent have write permission to the childe folds in there account?

    Just a random theory.

I have had this same issue and per Tsupport the "messages" db has become corrupt. Solution is to reload the handheld with the lastest handheld software. Using Backup/restore clear the "messages" and then do a back up. After you reload the handheld you can restore from backup to the handheld. If you want the user to receive the last x number of days or x number of messages set the correct prepopulation and reactivate the handheld.

    Re: Cannot Delete Incoming Messages!

As per Jason1114's response. I have several sites that have run into the same problem, but only with Pearls. In most cases, the email can be deleted in the mail client, but not on the handheld except for a few instances where the messages can be deleted if they haven't been opened. The only fix we've found to work is to wipe and reactivate the handheld. BUT, apparently there is a hotfix that now resolves this issue: 4.1-SP3-HF2! My customers aren't on SP3 yet so that's a bit of a pain, but not as much as the site that is still on 4.0!

    pressed enter too quickly! sorry..

I was saying, this issue is occuring with both of our handhelds, 8800 and pearls and is happening at the same time for about 5 users..Any idea how the messages db becomes corrupted?
Jason, thanks for your suggestion, will give that ago this afternoon and let you know how I got on..Might be worth looking at this hotfix that HaMakor suggests.

    Will keep you posted!

    This worked for me.

    Backup the Blackberry

    Go to Restore

    Restore only the messages

Presto bango, the one message that would not delete is gone !!
