    Question Calendar update issue

    BES 4.0.5 (bundle 43)
    Exchange Server 2003 SP1
    MAPI32 6.5.7226.0 - BES and EXCH
    Outlook 2003
    BB HH 7250 and 8703e

    Hi all,

We've been experiencing issues with meetings, meeting updates and meeting cancellations not synchronizing to the BB handhelds. There doesn't appear to be a pattern and the failures are seemingly random.

For example, I have an event in my calendar for today @ 2:00PM that was rescheduled to happen this past Monday. Outlook updated OK but the BES/BB did not. The event remains in the calendar and the rescheduled one appeared on the correct day and time. A couple of the C level guys here have complained that events do not get updated or cancelled events do not get removed from the BB cal. Outlook on the desktop/laptop is correct and up to date; just the BB is affected.

As I said, the lack of a pattern is making this difficult to resolve. It doesn't seem to be wide spread but happening often enough to raise a flag.

    Any ideas?

    Re: Calendar update issue

    Check permissions,

I had a user with a similar issue, he could make changes to his Outlook and it would update the BB.
But changes to the BB would not update Outlook/exchange.

The permission that I had to change was allow propagation on his AD account.

User's AD account| Security tab| Advanced options| Check box for propagate from parent...

    Re: Calendar update issue

    Thanks for the reply.

This issue is more about meeting updates and cancellations not syncing to the BB consitantly. If someone invites him to a meeting and then later changes the date/time or cancels it the changes don't always make it to the handheld.

BTW, the Inheritance flag for the account is set.

    Thanks for the input!

    Re: Calendar update issue

My company is having a similar issue in a Domino environment. Try setting "Keep Appointments" to "Forever". All of our handhelds are set to 60 days unless modified by the User.

There are a couple of SDR's on the issue, but I think the problem was geared at the Domino environment. But worth a try.

Are you running the BES services with a service account (BESadmin)?

Have you verified the permissions to that account?
