CA on rolled out Mobile Device Management (MDM), a software application that gives companies the ability to centrally manage thousands of BlackBerries across multiple BlackBerry Enterprise Servers (BES).

CA announced CA Mobile Device Management (CA MDM), an innovative enterprise-class solution for managing BlackBerry smartphones from Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSX: RIM). By providing corporate IT organizations with expanded management capabilities and device-user self-service functionality, CA MDM substantially mitigates security and compliance risks associated with these devices-while also reducing total cost of ownership.

CA MDM simplifies the provisioning and ongoing management of mobile devices via existing over-the-air connections without placing agents on any devices. It features a configurable self-service portal for end users that empowers them to rapidly register their devices, manage their passwords, and address common problems without the assistance of corporate help-desk personnel. It also provides a Web-based console that unifies all core management tasks-including security management, asset inventory, configuration management, policy compliance, and reporting-for all devices across the enterprise.

According to IDC research, the mobile device management market is expected to grow from $205.7 million in 2006, to $345.0 million by 2011.* This growth is driven by the increase in the mobile workforce and the need to manage the complexity that mobile devices add to the IT environment.
