Blackberry not syncing
When I activated my Blackberry, I got all my data on it including my contacts. But now, none of the Blackberry's are syncing with the BES except for email.
Do I have to forward ports? what could cause the problem?

Re: Blackberry not syncing
Did you wipe the handheld on the old device? That could fix the problem. Here are the instructions in order to wipe handheld...
Options/SecurityOptions/GeneralSettings...select the Menu button and select - Wipe Handheld.
Hope that works out for you just make sure that you have transfered all your contacts and save any pics or media otherwise you'll lose it all. Goodluck!!!

Re: Blackberry not syncing
I would suggest talking to you BES admin before doing what Willmt831 suggested. You will need to reactivate afterwards.
-
Re: Blackberry not syncing
how many Blackberry devices aren't synching with the BES? This will determine if you have an end user problem or a BES problem. If it is a BES problem, I would just restart it and see what happens. If you are getting E-Mail, then you should be able to get all your other data.

Re: Blackberry not syncing
Thanks for all your help. I actually did wipe all my data on all of our phones before I activated them. Unfortunatly, I am the BES Admin. Also, there's four users, however I set them all up.

Re: Blackberry not syncing
Try resending the service books.

Re: Blackberry not syncing
I've tried that. This is annoying me now

Re: Blackberry not syncing
This is a dumb one, but go into the Address Book on the BlackBerry, Click the wheel and select Options. One of the lines should say Wireless Synchronization and be set to Yes. If it's set to No, simply scroll down to that line and hit [Space] to change it to Yes. Hit [Esc] (button below the wheel) and select Save. This should fix the problem here and in the other PIM apps (Tasks, Memo Pad, Calendar).
If you do NOT have the Wireless Synchronization option, you should contact your BES provider, as it is either a problem (corruption) in the BES account, OR it could be a conflict or bad data in your Contacts or Calendar. Ultimately you'll have to wipe the device and reactivate.
Good luck!

Re: Blackberry not syncing
I just realized something. My calender works. Address book doesn't though. If it helps, I've just updated from Exchange 2003 and I exported everyones mailbox as a pst file then imported it into the new server. It wouldn't think that that's the problem because its the contacts the contacts that I did import works fine.
Also, when I added security permissions to BES in active directory, it added it for some users but when I click on mine, it doesn't show BESAdmin under the security tab. could that cause a problem?
edit: I also realized that my signature that I added on my blackberry isn't syncing with my BES.

Re: Blackberry not syncing
What is your setup?
Version of BES, Exchange?
Do you have a service account setup for BES?
-
Re: Blackberry not syncing
I'm using 4.1 SP4 on Windows Server 2003 64bit. I'm also running Exchange 2007 on this computer and I have my SQL server on another computer.
I think I setup the security settings. I setup the permissions on the User's OU. Is that the proper place to assign the permissions?
-
Re: Blackberry not syncing
There will be several places to set permissions,
First is on the local server, then within the Exchange enviroment, then in AD.
Are you running BES services as BESadmin?
If you need a refresher go to blackberry.com\support then enter KB02276
This should give you a start.
Also what is in your event logs?
If nothing, what about you BES logs? search for error in "magt" logs.

Also, going through those errors made me wonder if all the services starting with blackberry (since thats the one thing I know to look for) was started and they're all started except for BlackBerry Database Consistency Service. could that cause a problem?
