BES questions on Exchange 2010 migration

    Hello all,

I am planning on a migration to Exchange 2010 from Exchange 2003 this weekend.

Currently, BES exists on my 2003 server as well as the mailboxes. When I move the affected user mailboxes to the 2010 server will I have any issues with BES not picking that up?

Will I need to update the BES software to recognize 2010 mailboxes? BES is version 4.1.4.17 and as I understand, it will cost money for me to update the software/licenses? Or am I in the clear by just moving the mailboxes over...?

Okay so I have downloaded Express 5.0.2 and am installing it.

I am stuck on the database creation. I cannot create the database using the createdb besmgmt.cfg command, either on the local Exchange 2010 server (which has the SQL package installed) nor on another server that has MSDE (or whatever it's called) on another server. I receive the following error:

    "Unexpected BES Type ExchangeX"

    Any help here?

Got it installed but I can't use it; I cannot log in to the admin service. The services do not stay running. There is no error in the AS logs either.

    Awesome.

Wish I could help you here. Hopefully one of our BES experts might be of assistance. I'll see if I can enlist some help for you.
