BES not able to initiate wireless connection
We are just setting up a BES for the first time using the professional software with the free 1 user CAL and on the first activation we are not able to connect initially with the server from the device. The BES and Exchange server are commuicating fine it just seems anything outside the LAN is being blocked somehow?
Do I need open ports on the firewall??
# BES Infrastructure
pass out log on $ext_if proto tcp from $bes to any port 3101 keep state
So make sure that your BES server is allowed to communicate to external tcp port 3101
Update:If your firewall does not maintain state you will have to create incoming rules as well.

Reason: Clarify on Keep State
Optionally you can also go to the utility directory for BES and run the bbsrptest.exe from the command line to ensure that you are able to connect to the SRP. Should look something like the below.
C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Utility>BBSrpTest.exe
NetworkAccessNode is srp.ca.blackberry.net.
Attempting to connect to srp.ca.blackberry.net (22.214.171.124), port 3101
Sending test packet
Waiting for response
