Question BES Move SQL to MSDE New Server

Hello,

We currently have 4.0 running on SQL 2000 on a server.

We want to move to a new server and use MSDE database instead of SQL.

What is the easiest way to do this?

Can MSDE take a SQL bak file and be restored?

Also, are users filters saved in the BES database or Exchange or client side?

Thanks

Here is a preliminary plan that is subject to change.

BES 4.1 Migration

1. Stop/Disable all BlackBerry Services on NY1-PS-01.
2. Stop SQL Service.
3. Copy the database file of BESMgmt.mdf and BESMgmt.ldf flat files in E:\SQLDATA to NY1-BES-1
4. Restart NY1-PS-01.
5. Install 4.1 on NY1-BES-01 using same SRP/client auth keys. (The BES logical name must be same - NY-PS-01)
6. Stop all BlackBerry services on NY1-BES-01.
7. Stop SQL service.
8. Restore the database to the new BES, copy BESMgmt.mdf and BESMgmt.ldf to the new BES C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Data
9. Restart NY1-BES-01
10. Test and complete migration

1. Uninstall BES server on NY1-BES-01
2. Restore Blackberry DB and services on NY-BES-01
